Job Summary**
The Tooling Superintendent at El Carmen Manufacturing Facility will lead and manage all aspects of tooling operations, ensuring optimal performance, maintenance, and development of all manufacturing tools and dies to support production goals.
Job Responsibilities**
* Oversee the entire lifecycle of tooling, from design and procurement to maintenance, repair, and eventual replacement.
* Develop and implement strategies for proactive tooling maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize tool life.
* Manage a team of tooling technicians, including hiring, training, performance management, and scheduling.
* Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality departments to optimize tooling designs and processes for efficiency and product quality.
* Establish and maintain a robust tooling inventory system, ensuring availability of necessary components and spare parts.
* Analyze tooling performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
* Manage the tooling budget, including forecasting, cost control, and procurement of new tools and equipment.
* Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies within the tooling department.
* Evaluate and recommend new tooling technologies and materials to enhance manufacturing capabilities and reduce costs.
* Participate in root cause analysis of production issues related to tooling and implement preventative measures.
Required Skills and Education
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
* Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in tooling management within a manufacturing environment.
* Demonstrated expertise in various tooling technologies, including stamping dies, injection molds, jigs, and fixtures.
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials science, and precision machining.
* Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and tooling design principles.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Proven ability to manage budgets, projects, and cross-functional teams effectively.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
