Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Engineer Network – IT Network Engineer & Lab Support (24-233) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

The candidate will be part of the Cyber and Platforms (CAP) information technology team on the Command and Control Battle Management Communications (C2BMC) program and assist senior system administrators and government network subject matter experts with managing and sustaining network components supporting associated support networks.

Essential Functions:

  • Must be an effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio drawing tools.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with other highly motivated network engineers.
  • Familiarity with network communication products, including routers, switches, firewalls, Domain Name Servers (DNS), and data encryption products.
     

Basic Qualifications:

Please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

  • An active Secret clearance is required to start.
  • 5 years' experience with a Bachelor’s in a STEM degree field or related field; 3 years' experience with a Master’s in a STEM degree field or related field; or 9 years' experience in lieu of a degree
  • Must possess a minimum DOD 8140 IAT II certification requirements with any of the following certifications (Security +, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP).
  • Knowledge of network architecture, engineering, design, implementation, and testing. Understanding network communication and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP) and IP network troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of network testing methodologies using routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP behavior, network communications, routing protocols, network traffic analysis, and troubleshooting experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior knowledge of the C2BMC networks or organization.
  • Knowledge, skill sets, or experience using protocol analyzers/sniffers (e.g., Wireshark). Experience in Network Management Systems (HP Network Node Manager, Solarwinds, and NAS/SAN technologies (NetApp or Gigastore).
  • Certifications in the industry vendor Juniper or Cisco are a plus.

Additional Northrop Grumman Information:

Salary Range: $88,600.00 - $133,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
