What you will do

The Shipping and Paint Production Supervisor will manage the production employees’ functions in assigned work areas to ensure support of all components of Shipping and Paint required to meet the needs and requirements of internal and external customers with established specifications and scheduled completion dates. Responsibilities will include: ensure the team achieves goals in safety, quality, cost and delivery; work closely with other departments as well as coordinate activities across all shifts; supervise and coordinate distribution center activities which may involve but not limited to inbound, order fulfillment (picking) and shipping operations for finished goods and returned materials; manage distribution center associates, processes and systems efficiency to satisfy customer demand while meeting expectations regarding safety compliance, quality, timely deliver, efficiency and cost.

How you will do it

Shipping:

  • Plans and reviews day-to-day shipping operations to assure meeting established shipping schedules economically while maintaining quality standards.

  • Controls and monitors shipping office administrative functions.

  • By becoming the subject matter expert for distribution center functions under your supervision, fully understand and manage processes, systems, policies, and expectations to provide solid guidance to team.

  • Monitor inventory accuracy to meet physical inventory exemption requirements, analyze data and investigate root causes for inventory variances and lead corrective action implementation as needed. Identify and provide mentorship to employees on as needed basis.

  • Support distribution center leads in resources allocations to different activities and/or departments to balance workload, meeting customer expectations.

  • Monitor inspection and compliance on the operation of material handling equipment as well as potential problems. Notify Maintenance personnel or contact outside service facility for repair.

  • Drive the elimination of unsafe conditions, using appropriate PPE equipment and adhering to pre-established rules (Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety and Quality), being aware of internal policies and procedures.

  • Commit to the company's mission, values, policies, and objectives, complying with the rules, instructions, internal procedures, and the integrated management system, ensuring quality, accuracy, work safety, the environment and preventive medicine, in order to contribute to the valuing people, optimizing processes, sustainable development and better service to internal and external customers.

Production:

  • Oversee all operations and maintain productivity levels according to plant goals.

  • Coordinates daily or weekly production plans with Department Leaders in assigned work areas.

  • Works with management in a joint effort to provide the worker with a safe attitude, safe surroundings, and safe equipment.

  • Responsible for job assignments and time management for indirect projects within assigned areas.

  • Provides and or request skills training for all newly hired employees and refresher training for all employees on an as required basis, as well as updating employee training records.

  • Assures Leads are following Leader Standard Work.

  • Assures all employees follow all rules and regulations for the plant and to follow the disciplinary process as required.

  • Assures all assigned production employees are trained to and do follow all Quality standards

  • Maintain daily labor and attendance records.  Appraises employee performance, disciplines, addresses complaints, and resolves problems.

  • Responsible for driving safety performance within the plant to achieve the JCI Gold safety status (goal: no recordables or lost time injuries).

  • Perform safety observations/inspections as required.

  • Guide and coach Leads to monitor employee productivity.

  • Assists in planning, preparing and administering departmental budgets.

  • Serves as liaison with order management regarding scheduling, shippers, inventories, traffic, etc.

What we look for

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one (1) year of Shipping/Export experience OR Associate degree and a minimum of six (6) years of Shipping/Export experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as a Shipping Supervisor.

  • Experience using SAP.

  • Ability to work 1st shift (6:30AM-4:30PM) as well as weekend overtime as needed.

  • Excellent organizational, leadership and communication skills.

  • Servant leadership with data-driven and hands-on approach, strong analytical and critical decision-making skills towards a results-driven philosophy.

Preferred:

  • Experience using Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) system.

  • Experience using MAPICS (AS400).
