The H51 Colorectal Surgery Unit focuses on the treatment of patients with Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Colon Cancer, and genetic bowel diseases. The dedicated caregivers on this unit provide the highest quality, safest care to adult patients. We adhere to a strict patient-to-staff ration never exceeding 6 patients per caregiver. H51 has a positive, team-oriented and supportive culture with daily 7am huddles for both the night shift and day shift to start/end their shift with an optimistic mindset. Experienced caregivers on H51 are eager to educate newer nurses. A caregiver in H51 can expect to gain a strong medical foundation with true medical/surgical nursing. Become skilled with bladder scans, NGs, Foleys, Wound and Ostomy Care, and can assist with procedures. Ultrasound-guided IV certification is available and supported by leadership.
A caregiver in this position can expect to work a minimum of four (4) 12-hour shifts in each 6-week scheduling period.
