Overview: 

As a Software Engineer at Compound Planning you will build and maintain best-in-class software systems to deliver a magical experience to financial advisors and clients.  You will work in a collaborative agile team with other engineers, product managers and designers to achieve the product vision. The software you build is crucial to the company’s success to create the next generation financial planning platform.

What you’ll do: 

  • You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of improvements and features to existing systems as well as designing new services or components

  • Design software systems that solve complex business problems in a simple elegant way by working directly with business partners

  • Build high quality, performant and maintainable software in a timely manner

  • Create and contribute to a sustainable, scalable, and secure system architecture

  • Collaborate, mentor, and provide feedback to team members through code reviews and 1 on 1 pairing.

  • Maintain, improve, and address defects on existing software components

  • Provide regular, proactive communications on project progress and any blocking issues

  • Actively participate in the team’s software development process, including code reviews, testing, team meetings, planning, and project management.

Competencies and skills:  

  • 2+ years of experience delivering high quality software

  • Deep technical expertise in one or more languages

  • Solid understanding of fundamental computer science principles and software engineering best practices

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with peers and other team members

  • Desire to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment where projects and priorities evolve quickly

  • An ability and willingness to learn, adapt, and grow!

Bonus Points:

  • Strong grasp of modern, lean, web-application technologies

  • Familiarity creating integrations with external data sources and/or world class data visualizations

  • Experience with tools like NodeJS, React, NextJS, Postgres and AWS services

  • Experience with CI/CD

  • Building, optimizing and integrating AI systems
