As a Lead Engineer, Mechanical – Product Design & Engineering) (Completion Products), you will support the design, development and continuous improvement of Baker Hughes' Completion Products portfolio, including well completion systems, tubing completion technologies and subsurface safety valves (SSSVs).

In this role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative products, improve existing technologies and support engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle. You will contribute technical expertise to ensure our products meet customer expectations, industry standards and operational requirements in demanding downhole applications.

As a Lead Engineer, Mechanical – Product Design & Engineering (Completion Products), you will be responsible for:

Product Design & Engineering Development

  • Leading the design, analysis and development of Completion Products portfolio, including well completion systems, tubing completion technologies and subsurface safety valves (SSSVs).
  • Executing engineering calculations, design analysis and technical evaluations using sound engineering principles and established practices.
  • Supporting design verification, validation and qualification activities for new and existing products.
  • Developing engineering solutions that improve product performance, reliability and manufacturability.

Technical Support & Product Lifecycle Management

  • Supporting the technical improvement of existing products and components throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Participating in root cause investigations, failure analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Supporting manufacturing, quality and operational teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Providing engineering support for product enhancements, sustaining engineering and field performance improvements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and Commercial teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Communicating technical information effectively across functions and stakeholders.
  • Supporting project execution activities and ensuring alignment with program objectives.
  • Participating in technical reviews and design discussions to ensure engineering excellence.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Contributing to technology development initiatives and innovation projects.
  • Supporting continuous improvement efforts through engineering best practices and lessons learned.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, products and engineering methodologies.

Compliance & Technical Excellence

  • Ensuring compliance with engineering standards, technical requirements and Baker Hughes procedures.
  • Producing high-quality engineering documentation and technical deliverables.
  • Supporting adherence to quality, safety and regulatory requirements.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Have experience in mechanical product design and engineering.
  • Have experience supporting the design, development, qualification or sustainment of oilfield equipment.
  • Have strong engineering analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Have experience working in cross-functional engineering environments.
  • Have demonstrated project execution and stakeholder management skills.
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Have the ability to independently develop technical solutions to complex engineering challenges.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with Completion Products or Subsurface Production Systems.
  • Experience with pipe and well completion technologies.
  • Experience with Subsurface Safety Valves (SSSVs), downhole tools or related completion equipment.
  • Knowledge of API standards applicable to completion products.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management and engineering change processes.
  • Experience supporting qualification testing, manufacturing or field applications.
  • Previous experience in Oil & Gas product engineering environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and influence engineering decisions.
