Role Summary:
Develops and implements production and processing methods and controls to meet quality standards in the most efficient manner for new and existing chemical finishing process of stainless steel and titanium alloy implants. Monitors the chemical finishing process, troubleshooting problem processes and assisting in resolving quality issues. Provides technical expertise/leadership on various projects/production jobs and processes as required. The Finishing processes include, anodization, electropolish, wet-chemical passivation, sputter coating, and laser marking.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead technical projects within manufacturing site or suppliers to improve process capacity, capability, yield and maintainability.
- Establish and ensure process control and maintain appropriate documentation, including drawing redlines, router updates, process sheet updates, and equipment validations.
- Perform supervision functions in ME technical areas (PROJECTS/CAD/BOM).
- May be responsible for direction and development of technical support staff. Plans, conducts and directs engineering projects or studies including complete projects requiring advanced knowledge of a specialized field. Applies comprehensive and diverse knowledge of engineering principles and practices within broad assignment areas.
- May coordinate and direct activities of technical support staff and may be responsible for, technical development of assigned staff.
- Monitor the finishing processes running in production; troubleshoot problems associated with processes and assist in resolving quality issues including Non-Conformances and CAPAs.
- Assist in equipment purchases and establish processes for new product lines; document product development, changes, and evaluate new product performance.
- Implement new and existing projects and production jobs, optimizing cost, efficiency, and quality.
- Implement engineering controls to reduce the likelihood of mistakes or injuries in the Finishing areas
- Debug moderately complex problems within the Finishing work cell.
- Implement experiments to improve processes as well as improve yields and utilization through reduced cycle time and efficient set-up, including GDP documentation.
- Identify and drive maintenance changes in process improvements; propose or specify repair alteration of automation while ensuring adequate documentation is maintained.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, supporting all company safety programs and initiatives.
- Will provide direction to production Finishing operators as needed.
- Support all company safety and quality programs and initiatives.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- 3 - 5 years of experience in related chemical/finishing field.
- B.S. in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry preferred.
- Medical device manufacturing, medical industry, or related FDA-regulated industry experience required.
- Experienced in product/process validations which includes planning and executing Engineering Studies, Process Characterization, IQ, OQ, and PQ. Familiarity with change request processes.
- Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products, and e-mail skills required. Experience with Mini-Tab or similar statistical analysis software preferred.
- Experience with SAP preferred.
- Previous supervisor experience is a plus.
- Demonstrates strong organizational and project management skills and has a bias toward action and results.
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills and professional interactions with coworkers.
- Demonstrates troubleshooting skills.
The pay range for this role is $79,400 - $142,900. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity. The anticipated close date of this job requisition is: February 20, 2026.
