OpenText Information Archive

1. Enterprise Archiving Strategy & Governance
Design and manage enterprise-wide data archiving strategy using OpenText Information Archive.
Define data retention, legal hold, and disposition policies aligned with regulatory and corporate governance standards.
Lead enterprise data lifecycle management initiatives across structured and unstructured data.
Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Data Governance teams to ensure policy enforcement.
Standardize archiving frameworks across multiple business units and geographies.
Participate in enterprise architecture review boards for data management decisions.
Establish archival SLAs, RTO/RPO standards, and long-term data preservation strategies.

2. OpenText Information Archive Architecture & Implementation
Architect and implement OpenText Information Archive (IA) solutions for large-scale SAP and non-SAP environments.
Design scalable archive infrastructure including storage tiers, content servers, and indexing strategies.
Configure archive schemas, retention rules, and ILM policies.
Implement WORM storage and compliant storage mechanisms where required.
Oversee archive database design, performance tuning, and storage optimization.
Lead upgrades, migrations, and system consolidations of OpenText IA environments.
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery architecture for archive platforms.

3. SAP & Enterprise Application Integration
Integrate OpenText IA with SAP ECC, S/4HANA, BW, and other enterprise applications.
Configure SAP ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) in conjunction with OpenText IA.
Implement data archiving objects, residence rules, and deletion workflows.
Support SAP carve-outs, system decommissioning, and legacy system archiving initiatives.
Ensure seamless retrieval and reporting capabilities for archived data.
Provide architecture support during SAP transformation programs.

4. Compliance, Legal Hold & Regulatory Alignment
Implement compliant retention management aligned with:
o SOX
o GDPR
o HIPAA (if applicable)
o Industry-specific mandates
Configure and manage legal hold processes within OpenText IA.
Support audit requests and regulatory inspections.
Ensure tamper-proof and immutable storage configurations.
Maintain documentation for compliance certification and audit readiness.

5. Performance Optimization & Operational Excellence
Monitor archive system performance, indexing efficiency, and storage utilization.
Optimize archive retrieval performance for large datasets.
Conduct capacity planning and growth forecasting.
Automate archive monitoring and alerting processes.
Lead root cause analysis for archive-related incidents.
Ensure system stability across production, QA, and DR environments.

6. Data Migration & Legacy Decommissioning
Lead legacy application decommissioning initiatives using OpenText IA.
Design structured and unstructured data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.
Validate data integrity and audit trail continuity during migrations.
Support mergers, acquisitions, and divestiture-related archiving projects.
Develop repeatable methodologies for system retirement programs.

7. Security & Access Management
Implement role-based access control within OpenText IA.
Integrate with enterprise IAM/SSO systems.
Ensure encryption at rest and in transit.
Define access governance policies and periodic review processes.
Secure sensitive data (PII, financial, healthcare data).

8. Stakeholder & Vendor Management
Act as the SME for OpenText Information Archive across the organization.
Coordinate with OpenText support and third-party vendors.
Provide executive-level updates on archive health, compliance posture, and risk.
Mentor junior administrators and functional teams.
Deliver knowledge transfer and documentation for operational teams.


Required Skills & Expertise – OpenText Information Archive

Core OpenText Expertise
Strong hands-on experience with OpenText Information Archive (IA).
Experience configuring archive schemas, retention policies, and ILM frameworks.
Deep knowledge of OpenText Archive Server and Content Server integrations.
Experience with archive database management and indexing mechanisms.
Familiarity with compliant storage and WORM technologies.

SAP Integration Expertise
Strong experience integrating OpenText IA with:
o SAP ECC
o SAP S/4HANA
o SAP BW
Knowledge of SAP ILM configuration and archive objects.
Understanding of SAP data residence and destruction policies.
Experience in SAP system decommissioning or carve-out projects.
Ability to troubleshoot SAP-to-Archive integration issues.

Data Lifecycle & Compliance Knowledge
Strong understanding of data retention regulations and governance standards.
Experience implementing legal hold and audit-readiness controls.
Familiarity with regulatory environments (financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, etc.).
Knowledge of GDPR, SOX, and industry compliance frameworks.

Database & Infrastructure Skills
Experience with underlying archive databases (Oracle, SQL Server, or similar).
Knowledge of storage architectures (SAN, NAS, cloud object storage).
Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery configurations.
Experience with backup and long-term retention strategies.

Migration & Decommissioning Expertise
Experience leading legacy system archiving projects.
Knowledge of ETL processes and data validation methodologies.
Strong understanding of audit trail preservation during data migration.
Ability to design archive reporting solutions for decommissioned systems.

Security & Governance Skills
Knowledge of role-based access control and segregation of duties.
Experience integrating with enterprise IAM systems.
Understanding of encryption standards and secure data handling.
Ability to support regulatory audits and forensic data retrieval.

Strong documentation and policy writing skills.
