The Director, Clinical Marketing designs, develops, and implements marketing programs to support the organization's various products, services and/or market sectors. Designs, develops, and implements sales programs utilizing traditional and innovative marketing/product approaches, tools and methodologies to meet the organization's business objectives. Plans, directs, and coordinates the efforts of marketing and sales toward the accomplishment of objectives.

You will significantly impact the strategy of the Clinical Marketing function. In this leadership role, the Director, Clinical Marketing will be responsible for setting Stryker Neurosurgical’s clinical strategy including research generation, evidence dissemination, customer/sales force education, and sales support in support of revenue objectives. In addition, influencing and cultivating a culture of customers that deeply understand, support and embed Stryker products into their regular practice in service of supreme patient care. The leader will build a systematic and replicable methodology to achieve this goal across disciplines, locations, markets etc.  The job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of clinical research studies the different systems, theories and practices relevant to a fast-moving discipline. The job has full management responsibility including the management of numerous teams of managers/professionals, planning for the teams' future needs and operations. There will be financial accountability for independent budgets.  This role involves significant collaboration and influence of SYK global Field Marketing and local marketing teams to influence global presence and priorities.

This role is Remote within the US. Candidates located in Eastern and Central time preferred. Candidates located close airport hub preferred.

What you will do 

Developing the Strategy and Marketing Plan

  • Define the vision to support overarching revenue, profitability and market share objectives; own the development, implementation and execution of marketing plans.
  • Influence go-to-market direction based on business intelligence, program portfolio performance, and market leading practices both domestically and internationally.
  • Coaches others on the development of the well-written marketing plan.
  • Set direction for neurosurgical clinical research strategy, clinical marketing, and clinical field sales support/education
  • Leads strategy and marketing planning effort to generate healthy discussion about the overall direct of the annual marketing plan based on business strategy and customer needs.

Communication Strategy

  • Articulates desired communications outcomes consistent with marketing strategy to Downstream and MarComm teams.
  • Partners with MarComm managers to develop synergies across team to maximize communication effectiveness.

Sales Support and Responsiveness

  • Evaluates structure and its impact and effectiveness in supporting the selling organization.  Takes action to adjust team alignments in order to achieve team and business objectives.
  • Coaches direct reports to leverage all product resources and information to comprehensively support questions from regional sales teams.
  • Coaches direct reports to comprehend competitive alternatives and provide guidance on objection handling.
  • Regularly meets with Sales Teams to monitor teams’ effectiveness and gather input.
  • Establishes process to drive engagement and commercial impact with top accounts, IDNs.

Sales Enablement

  • Guide sales teams and leaders on how to tailor efforts to meet specific market needs.    
  • Consults on technical knowledge for the development of clinical-specific marketing campaigns.
  • Designs marketing/sales strategies with an emphasis on the organization's clinical product offerings.

Customer Engagement

  • Identify and maintain relationships with local KOLs, societies, alliances, sponsors, and advisory boards in collaboration with medical education, marketing and sales.
  • Coaches others on the role of a consultant sponsor, serves as a consultant sponsor.
  • Has direct input into the bench of Stryker KOL/faculty.

Customer Centric Development

  • Manage and drive participation in industry events and sales presentations; develop high-quality, world-class points of view on “hot topics” relevant to the healthcare industry and C-suite executives.
  • Gather and present relevant customer segmentation and value proposition data.
  • Uses customer satisfaction measures to develop policies and procedures.
  • Establish consistent, local positioning and branding image throughout clinical evidence, promotional materials and events.

Regional Marketing Insights

  • Leads analyses of the organization's current and potential competitive environment and strategies.
  • Coaches the team on the importance of customer and sales insights, develops frameworks to gather, organize and present insights.

Marketing Objective

  • Develop frameworks and best practices to increase scale and efficiencies including operating models, organization capabilities, processes and tools; define and measure success against the best internal and external benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with sales management and consulting surgeons to validate, deliver and evaluate marketing strategies and programs.

Customer Insights

  • Collaborates with medical education, marketing, and sales on network of KOLs to achieve business need leveraging regional insights and feedback form customers and the selling organization.
  • Predicts the strengths and weaknesses of the full product line across specific procedures compared to the competition.
  • Drives the synthesizing of customer needs to inform future innovation.

Other

  • Build team engagement, develop staff (directly and indirectly), and leverage performance management systems to reach business objectives; includes goal setting, monitoring, coaching, feedback and performance reviews.
  •  Lead a team of field marketing managers, clinical development managers, and clinical specialists helping them assimilate unit/regional commercial priorities and utilize the core marketing functions to deliver successful field programs.
  • Responsible and accountable for actions promoting an environment that fosters personal growth and development.
  • Serves as the representative for various enterprise projects and transformation initiatives.
  • Champions technology, organization and culture changes as required by business needs.

What you need

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MBA preferred
  • A minimum of 10+ years of work experience required
  • 7+ years medical device or marketing/sales experience required
  • 4+ years of people management experience highly preferred
  •  Previous experience with or familiarity with MIPS (minimally invasive parafascicular surgery), neurosurgery procedures preferred
  • Understanding of neurosurgery procedures ICH preferred
  • Previous clinical strategy including research generation and evidence dissemination preferred

$126500 - $279500 salary plus bonus eligible + generally eligible for short-term and long-term financial incentives + benefits.  Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location.  Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors
