THE POSITION

As a programme manager at FanDuel technology, you will be a leader in the Engineering organisation. You will work as part of the Delivery team to oversee, measure and deliver multiple programmes and projects aligned to your assigned workstream.

You will be accountable for the successful delivery of the organisational objectives within your Casino workstream as well as champion a culture of continuous planning, owning the domain roadmap and working to mature the delivery function in Casino. You will manage a team of Technical program managers and work hand in hand with engineering and product leadership to ensure the success of the workstream. 

You will perform a vital role within Casino delivery and so you will need to be a driven, self motivated, strategic thinker to ensure the goals of the team are being met, and if not, how to make the necessary changes to get there.

You will have the opportunity to define and promote Delivery best practices, share knowledge, and identify and execute on improved efficiencies of Technical Delivery, driven by data and insights.

Responsibilities:

  • People management of Technical Program Managers

  • Prioritisation, planning and allocation of delivery resource within their workstream (TPMs)

  • Challenging ongoing alignment with strategic objectives

  • Resolving conflicts over scarce delivery resource

  • Identifying and managing programme interdependencies

  • Assessing true level of aggregate program risk

  • Monitoring progress against key outcomes

  • Managing successful programme and project delivery within their workstream, providing support to TPMs and SEMs

  • Ensuring a minimum of 3-month rolling roadmap is committed within their workstream in accordance with Continuous planning

  • Governing best practice across the delivery function

  • Facilitating programme efficiency retrospectives to drive improvements

  • Understanding how the workstream is performing against the objectives and have an improvement plan to raise the maturity level of delivery, improve efficiency and drive faster delivery of programs

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of Technical Program Management experience or 3+ years in portfolio management. Alternatively, program manager experience working closely with Engineering teams or experience as an Engineering Manager driving programs.

  • Experience managing a team of Technical Program Managers or Software Engineers.

  • Proven track record of ownership and driving programs with experience of Lean, agile and more traditional methodologies

  • Advocates of change and innovation, understanding the importance of data-driven decision making and the value of delivery and operational metrics.

  • Demonstrated experience of force multiplying - the ability to influence teams to work harder together, understanding an placing value on individual strengths and weaknesses to achieve the best result

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills

  • Background with engineering programs. You can engage in an effective discussion with Engineers.

  • Experience in the engineering field with an understanding of how to leverage processes to deliver more effectively

  • Ability to understand architectural concepts such as scaling, robustness, etc. 

  • Emotional intelligence, understanding the importance of empathy and how to interact in a professional manner

  • Approachable and open-minded with an ability to work well with people at all levels

  • Proven track record of driving cross functional teams to produce plans and roadmaps, with a firm grasp of what good looks like when it comes to managing risks, issues and dependencies.
