The Business Development Manager, US Mobile Tank Car Cleaning (BDM, US MTCC), is responsible for generating and sustaining business growth within the United States for tank car cleaning and related industrial services. The role focuses on identifying, developing, and securing new customer relationships and supporting the expansion of existing accounts. The position collaborates with the Regional Operations Manager (ROM) and Canadian technical teams to ensure commercial commitments align with operational capabilities and regulatory requirements. The role requires strong commercial judgment, familiarity with regulated field service environments, and experience working with industrial, rail, or chemical sector customers.

This role combines strategic sales leadership with hands-on collaboration across operations and compliance teams to ensure we deliver safe, efficient, and innovative solutions to our customers. Business Development and Market Growth

  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities within assigned United States regions.
  • Develop and implement sales and market development plans consistent with company strategies.
  • Lead proposal preparation, pricing analysis, and contract negotiation activities in coordination with leadership.
  • Maintain a structured pipeline and provide regular reporting on forecasts, activity levels, and conversion metrics.
  • Verify alignment between proposed commercial commitments and operational capacity.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Coordinate customer onboarding and transition activities with operations and service delivery teams.
  • Support renewals, amendments, and expansions of active customer agreements.
  • Serve as the primary commercial contact for assigned accounts.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with the ROM and Canadian technical teams to ensure readiness for service startup, equipment deployment, and customer expectations.
  • Coordinate with HSE and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to DOT, OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal teams with customer-related documentation, planning, and required communications.

Market Intelligence and Strategic Planning

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments that impact tank cleaning and related services.
  • Provide data and analysis to support pricing decisions, revenue planning, and strategic forecasting.
  • Participate in annual budget and planning processes with information related to sales targets and customer activity.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role does not include direct reports or formal leadership authority over personnel.

SKILLS/SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to develop and maintain business relationships within industrial, transportation, or chemical sectors.
  • Knowledge of business development processes, contract negotiation practices, and account management.
  • Familiarity with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and related regulatory frameworks in field service environments.
  • Effective communication, presentation, and customer interaction skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, including pipeline management and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with leadership direction.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Eight to ten years of experience in business development, sales, or account management within industrial services, rail, chemical, or logistics industries.
  • Experience developing, negotiating, and managing service contracts in regulated environments.
  • Experience working with field operations and technical teams to support service delivery.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools and Microsoft Office applications.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This position is based in Houston, Texas to support regional customer engagement and access to MTCC equipment resources.
  • Frequent travel required, approximately 50 percent, to customer locations, operational sites, and company meetings.
  • Occasional exposure to industrial environments requiring the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Extended periods of computer and administrative work in office settings.
