Capital Markets & Syndicate (“CM&S”) within Global Markets is responsible for originating, advising and the execution of primary market debt issuance for clients across the government, semi-government, SSA, financial institution and corporate sectors globally. Working closely with Loan Markets Origination, Syndicate, Fixed Income Sales & Trading, Debt Capital Markets within CM&S acts as the originator in addition to link between various partners to drive new primary market debt transactions.

Do work that matters

Directors drive origination efforts and manage the execution of debt markets transactions. The role provides exposure to clients, banks and investors, as well as an opportunity to understand the end-to-end origination and execution process across multiple products/markets.  

Key tasks will include but not be limited to:

  • Cover corporate clients to originate new primary bond issues for clients to the domestic AUD market, regional USD and US Private Placement markets in multiple products across the capital stack.

  • Co-ordinate pitch materials and RFP responses which will include formulating messaging, suggesting/agreeing content, sourcing information, preparing slides, reviewing and managing stakeholders. Pitches and RFP responses will typically include an overview of funding options, funding strategy, key credit considerations, market conditions, indicative pricing, comparable transactions, process/timetable, execution considerations and credentials.

  • Prepare pricing updates and market updates (including weekly economic and market commentary) to support ongoing client marketing efforts

  • Identify and evaluate relevant economic, industry and company information to form a view on the credit profile of a company, prepare market commentary, inform indicative pricing, prepare credit papers and develop pitches

  • Drafting of term sheets, indicative pricing runs, trade ideas, market announcements and maintenance of pricing databases.

  • Lead day-to-day execution of a transaction which could include preparing engagement letters, deal timetables, invite letters, data rooms, syndication strategies, organising roadshows, investor profiles, reviewing due diligence materials, drafting deal announcements and bookrunning.

  • Aiding with the general marketing to clients of the Bank’s capabilities. This may require travel

  • As a Director, you will have accountability for independent coverage of corporate Issuers with a view to building a pipeline of identified opportunities and be responsible for end-to-end execution.

We’re interested in hearing from people who

Are committed candidates, seeking to build on a strong foundation developed in investment banking, a corporate or institutional bank or debt advisory firm. Further, you’ll bring;

  • Relevant Debt Capital Markets, Syndicate, Fixed Income Sales or Trading experience. Coverage Banker, Risk Management or FX/Rates Sales roles also considered.

  • Strong understanding of fixed income products to include cash and derivative markets

  • Analytical skills with strong problem solving, numerical and verbal reasoning skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • High energy, able to operate at pace and bring a growth mindset

  • Strong IT skills to include MS Office and Bloomberg
