AMLI Residential is looking to hire a Manager, Investment Management. This position is responsible for managing all day-to-day financial modeling, investment analysis, and preparation of investment memos/materials supporting the Asset Management, Acquisition / Disposition, and Development efforts. The person in this role substantially interacts with AMLI's Investment Management, Accounting, and Development Departments.  This position is based out of AMLI's corporate headquarters in downtown Chicago, which is close to all public transportation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Analyze and monitor the performance of the existing portfolio. Oversee and review monthly model updates, including economic forecasts of supply/demand and their impact on projected rent growth.
  • Supervise and mentor shared analysts in the Investment Management Group.  Provide leadership and quality control to direct reports, including effective employee relations, compliance with employment law, ongoing training, and motivation.  Ensure regular coaching and participate in performance evaluations/development planning.
  • Communicate internally and externally on a monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc basis, including reporting to JV partners and Prime Property Fund / Morgan Stanley.
  • Perform the initial screening of investment opportunities.  Prepare draft pro formas, deal memos, investment committee presentations, and supporting analyses such as rent roll analyses and rental market surveys.  Complete hold/sell analyses based on financial and macroeconomic factors.
  • Join Investment Committee Meetings and Financial Model Review calls with Senior Management.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or Business Administration is required, along with a minimum of four years of experience in economics, finance, or related work. Experience in Real Estate/Asset Management is preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS:  Advanced Microsoft Office Excel required.  The ability to learn and adapt to new software applications quickly is also required. 

COMMUNICATION AND PRESENTATION SKILLS: Strong verbal and written communication skills required.   Ability to analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.  Ability to prepare reports and correspond with business partners.   Ability to effectively present information and respond to requests from senior management.
