Lead Pharmacy Technician II - Specialty Pharmacy

As a Lead Pharmacy Technician II, you will be responsible for providing advanced operational business support to technical caregivers, in addition to the duties of a Pharmacy Technician. This includes delegating and directing technical caregiver functions in an assigned pharmacy to ensure proper execution and delivery of pharmacy services, such as work shift responsibilities and assignments, quality control monitoring, various project-oriented tasks, and training and orientation activities. The Lead Pharmacy Technician II is a work lead over caregivers in the Pharmacy Technician-related roles, such as Pharmacy Technician Medication Access, Pharmacy Technician Specialty, Pharmacy Technician Regulatory and Pharmacy Technician Automation.
A caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 7:00am – 6:00pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Coordinate and assign technical functions within the pharmacy to ensure timely and accurate services.
Interact with and review the work of technical caregivers, providing feedback to ensure maximized output and efficiency.
Coordinate with management regarding team performance and throughput.
Ensure caregivers are adequately trained and oriented to the work area.
Provide onsite retraining as needed.
Serve as technical resource for new pharmacy-oriented projects.
Work in staff capacity and possess the ability to perform all technical functions as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
A high school diploma or GED.
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) verified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. You must register as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy within 6 months of hire.
Three years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in an inpatient and/or advanced community practice setting.
Ability to identify and develop solutions applying appropriate pharmacy standards and policies.
Ability to educate and train others.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program.
