Job Summary
As a Senior Engineering Program Manager (EPM) within the HP Peripherals team, you will be responsible for leading multiple cross-functional project teams, managing internal development partners, and overseeing the logistics of parts for builds and prototypes. This role applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex hardware business issues, driving innovation and technology integration. You will manage end-to-end project activities, develop schedules, budgets, and resource plans, track progress against established milestones, and drive engineering best practices while mentoring engineering staff.
Responsibilities
Program Leadership: Manage and lead complex programs involving multiple functions and project teams to drive the engineering development and implementation process for peripheral product offerings.
Logistics & Build Management: Oversee the logistics of parts for builds and prototypes, effectively managing multiple simultaneous projects.
Project Planning: Develop and direct the creation of schedules, critical deliverables, budgets, resource allocation plans, and other support requirements for assigned programs.
Partner Management: Manage activities of supporting project teams and internal/external development partners; analyze business data to optimize schedules and resource allocation to meet product requirements.
Compliance & Safety: Manage programs to ensure procedural compliance, maintenance, and safety practices are rigorously followed for new and existing equipment.
Stakeholder Communication: Communicate program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to product stakeholders; collaborate with management and partners to implement changes to products, processes, or business practices.
Trial Execution: Follow up on open points and action items observed during product trials, ensuring they are translated into actionable engineering tasks.
Innovation & Quality: Drive innovation, the integration of new technologies, and quality initiatives within the manufacturing and engineering organizations.
Process Optimization: Champion best practices through robust documentation control policies and procedures.
Mentorship: Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to junior and peer engineering team members.
Verification & Certification: Collaborate with ODM R&D teams, HP verification teams, and third-party laboratories to develop and oversee rigorous hardware certification programs. Ensure comprehensive tracking of reliability testing and hardware certification.
Education & Experience Recommended
Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electronic Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: Extensive experience (typically 12+ years) in electrical or mechanical engineering development and implementation, with a proven track record (5+ years preferred) in project/program management.
ODM/OEM Partnerships: Demonstrated experience managing ODM/OEM partners and navigating complex supply chain ecosystems.
Hardware Fundamentals: In-depth understanding of hardware development lifecycles (phases, gates), manufacturing processes, and cross-functional engineering dependencies in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
