As the Technical Flight Training Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing large scale projects, including the selection and management of project resources, negotiations across all levels and the requirement to network with internal/external stakeholders to achieve project objectives, and ensure business goals and strategies are met for Qantas Group Flight Training. These initiatives are delivered through a range of programs and projects supporting either fleet Entry Into Service or underlying activity growth.  Additionally, the Flight Training Technical Manager will also be responsible for recognising, introducing, managing and supporting strategic initiatives that focus on business improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs and develops plans to shape, prioritise and resource projects/programmes to ensure they fit in with overall business strategy

  • Develops and oversees mechanisms to track and report on the progress against objectives of projects/programs in order to monitor success and provide updates

  • Manages relationships with vendors and measure their effectiveness to ensure relationship and contractual obligations are met

  • Act as the authority across all issue escalation channels for all relevant programme / project stakeholders

  • Oversee the continuous review and improvement of project management policies, systems and processes to ensure they are fit-for-purpose

  • Partners and closely collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure success of projects, programs and change initiatives

  • Responsible for the ongoing control and monitoring of the project, particularly with regard to control of expenditure against approved budgets

  • Manage project risk and issues for allocated projects, ensuring they are being identified, investigated, resolved, mitigated or escalated as appropriate

  • Manage the planning, implementation and control of projects in accordance with Corporate Project Management Methodology (CPMM) and departmental process

Essential Skills:

  • Tertiary qualification in a related discipline

  • Relevant Professional qualification, e.g. professional accreditation in project management

  • Significant project and programme management experience with focus on a customer and commercial focus

  • Proven cost management, political and planning skills
