Role summary:

We are seeking a Senior Director of Engineering for Delivery Infrastructure to drive the next phase of evolution for our content delivery systems. This critical role involves overseeing the infrastructure that indexes, retrieves, and serves all content (both organic and ads), which is essential to the entire Pinterest user experience. The Senior Director of Engineering for Delivery Infrastructure will lead and develop a growing team of 100+ FTE engineers, including Managers, Senior Managers, and Directors. They will play a key role in defining technical strategies and leading the team to accelerate Pinterest business across Pinner products (e.g. Homefeed, Search) and Ads products by closely partnering with key cross-functional stakeholders across Core and Monetization organizations. 

What you'll do:

• Lead Pinterest's Delivery infrastructure that powers 100% of Pinner facing product experience across Core (e.g. Homefeed, Search, Related Pins) and Ads (all ads objectives across all surfaces). 
• Partner with engineering and product teams across Pinterest to define and implement delivery infrastructure solutions that drive innovation and speed up development for both organic and ads product experiences.
• Lead a growing 100+ FTE engineering organization, establishing the technical vision and driving daily execution, while simultaneously cultivating a positive team culture and health.
• Modernize Pinterest's organic and ads product delivery infrastructure to significantly enhance reliability, scalability, and efficiency, while accelerating developer velocity.

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in engineering leadership of relevant scale, with track records of shaping and growing a high performing engineering organization of at least 50 engineers. 
• Proven experience building and operating critical, user-facing backend serving systems.
• Deep domain knowledge and technical depth in consumer facing recommendation, search or ads systems, with demonstrated experience guiding technical directions from reliability, scalability, efficiency, developer productivity to product unlocking.
• Strong cross-functional collaborator and communicator.

In-Office Requirement Statement: 

• We recognize that the ideal environment for work is situational and may differ across departments. What this looks like day-to-day can vary based on the needs of each organization or role. 
• This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration one day per week and therefore needs to be in a commutable distance from one of the following offices, Palo Alto, San Francisco or Seattle.
