Job Summary

As a Weld Technologist, you will be responsible for managing the plant’s Welding Approval and Customer Acceptance Validation (CAV), working collaboratively with the different business departments to ensure compliance with corporate standards and guidelines.

What the candidate will do

  • Oversee certifying and developing welding processes for the various types of joints, materials, and procedures required for the manufacturing of our products, ensuring compliance with the highest quality standards.

  • Ensuring proper training of welders, as well as providing specialized technical support and expert analysis for any issues or incidents related to welding processes.

Degree Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Mechanical Engineer, Materials Science Engineer, Welding Engineer, or a related field.
  • Pre-Intermediate English proficiency.

What skills will the ideal candidate have

Quality Management:

  • Hands on in weld visual inspection and knowledge on NTD and DT.
  • Problem solving
  • Manage Welding & Fabrication Gap Analysis (CAV)
  • Weld Quality Plan of the Facility
  • Evaluate Welder Performance at Training School

Engineering – Manufacturing:

  • Development and qualification of WPS/PQR
  • Welder Performance Qualification Record (WPQR)
  • Review Caterpillar practices and policies and international standards as well (Ex.AWS,ASME,ISO)
  • Control of consumables and welding parameters of the facility (Gas,Electrodes,etc)
  • Welding Equipment Selection

Decision-making and critical thinking:

  • Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques.
  • Ability to accurately analyze situations and make productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Top Candidates have:

  • CWI certification

Additional information

  • This position is located in Santa Catarina, Nuevo León.
  • The work schedule is Monday through Friday (6:24 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), with the option of shift changes and weekend work.
  • This position requires travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and international).
  • Relocation is not available for this position.
