About the Role
The successful candidate will rotate through various sections of the laboratory (including Histopathology, Immunohistochemistry and Surgical Cut-up lab) and be responsible for the routine processing of specimens according to established and documented laboratory procedures in each section.
Duties include:
Produce high quality, accurate and timely preparations
Comply with all documented ‘Specimen Validity Checks’ to achieve a zero error rating in the area of maintaining specimen integrity
Perform all bench work according to documented methods
Ensure the methods used in the laboratory are appropriate to the production of high quality results and outcomes
Ensure appropriate maintenance procedures for the instruments of the section are performed and logged
Assist Pathology clients, both internal and external
Attend and participate in laboratory meetings
Participate in Internal Quality Control and External Quality Assurance Programs
Participating actively in on-going quality improvement initiatives, developmental work, method selection and change management
Classifications for this position will range from RX3 - RX7 ($72,472 - $89,986 per annum).
Your Contribution
The successful candidate requires the following:
Degree of Bachelor of Applied Science (MLS) or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years in a diagnostic Histopathology laboratory
Good knowledge of routine Histopathology laboratory practice, including frozen sections Surgical Cut-up, Immunohistochemistry techniques
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
Demonstrated commitment to personal ongoing education and professional development
Demonstrated ability to lead constructively and mentor
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Current National criminal history check

Our laboratory is committed to providing the most comprehensive range of diagnostic services available, it is N.A.T.A. and R.C.P.A. accredited. The consultants are specialists in a wide range of histological, molecular and cytopathological investigations. They are supported by medical scientists with considerable experience in all areas of anatomical pathology
