How you will contribute

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Robotic Welder position in the Global Utility Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will weld metal components together in robotic application with CNC equipment according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders.   • Performs operation of automatic welding production machinery with CNC equipment.

  • Adjusts and sets robotic weld machine to specification.

  • Setup of programs for efficient and effective welding operation.

  • Reads and interprets blueprints to ensure product is properly fitted according to specifications.

  • Perform layout, aligning, and assembling of fabricated metal products used in electrical poles, substations, and other structures.

  • May perform various weld procedures to include tack weld, jig work, or fitting brackets together in preparation for welding operation according to specifications and proper procedures.

  • Works under conditions with accurate performance and completion of work within set time limits.

  • Accountable and responsible for essential tools and equipment provided along w/ the maintenance of these tools and equipment.

  • Perform other duties as directed by leaders and management

  • Actively participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures

What it takes

Required Qualifications

  • Three months of previous hands on welding experience

  • Successful completion of an internal weld test

  • Able to read and interpret blue prints including weld requirement symbology

  • Ability to calculate formulas using basic mathematics and standard U.S. and Metric Measurements.

  • Knowledge and experience in gas metal arc welding and the use of flame cutting and or plasma cutting are necessary.

  • The ability to accurately read a tape measure

  • Knowledge of quality requirements and standards.

  • Ability to prioritize work in order to complete deadlines. Must also be able to work through problem with the minimum amount of assistance from the leadperson or the supervisor.

  • The ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions

  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner

  • Ability to work timely and expeditiously to deliver an on-time result without errors.

  • The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment

  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Able to maintain an acceptable level of production, quality and attendance as determined by Management.

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent or graduation from an accredited trade school for welding

  • One year of previous experience operating a CNC machine

  • One year of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment

  • One year of previous experience welding in a professional environment including fitting

  • Must have a high awareness for safety at all times

  • The ability to identify and communicate maintenance or production problems to departmental supervision

  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
