As Senior Manager, Advocacy and Alliance Development, you will engage and partner with external organizations in the patient, consumer, and provider space. Through a high level of understanding of patient access groups and reimbursement issues, the incumbent will effectively represent and advance the business interests of Viatris key therapeutic areas and products. An essential component is having a strong business sense and the ability to understand the interplay between patient access group interests, provincial health policy, reimbursement issues, health outcomes, patient advocacy and government relations. The Senior Manager, Advocacy and Alliance Development has a strong understanding on all issues involving patient advocacy groups.
Additionally, you be responsible for all internal and external communications, crisis management, and issues management, messaging and branding relating to Advocacy groups. You will work closely with Senior Leadership and NA Communications to develop ongoing communications’ strategies that are aligned with the goals and objectives set out in the overall business plan.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
Develop and implement strategies to achieve Viatris corporate, therapeutic, and reputational goals through partnerships with like-minded external organizations and key opinion leaders.
Consistently track and assess environment to identify timely and relevant engagements.
Develop and expand relationships Develop and expand relationships with policy organizations, patient groups, advocacy coalitions, and key patient-focused stakeholders on behalf of Viatris.
Support key activities for Viatris, including product launches, corporate initiatives, executive positioning, and issues management by engaging and educating partners.
Partner with communications, government affairs, policy, medical, commercial, and other internal organizations to craft relevant, cohesive, and engaging messaging that represents Viatris’ commitments to patient access.
Ensure partnerships are transparent, compliant, and adhere to Viatris policies.
Appropriately manage Advocacy and Alliance Development activities to annual budget.
The minimum qualifications for this role are:
BSc and/or advanced degree.
5-8 years’ experience working in the Canadian pharmaceutical industry along with a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in patient access sector positions.
Demonstrated hands-on experience in advocating for patient groups.
Demonstrated ability to implement access strategies for commercialized and pre-launch products and market preparation.
Flexible and adaptable style with the ability to learn and assimilate information quickly.
Excellent communication (written and verbal), negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent skills in MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and colleagues of varied backgrounds and expertise.
Ability to function as a team member and as a leader of project teams.
Ability to manage and deliver multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and to deliver in a timely manner.
Ability to travel to meet in person with patient groups, attend patient related conferences and patient advocacy event.
Ability to work closely with mid- and senior-level leaders in the organization to develop and drive effective and engaging communications.
Bilingualism (English/French) required.
