The HL7 Developer is a key role in Virtus’s growing Tech/Dev practice The successful candidate will design, implement, and manage HL7 interfaces and ensure that our systems meet interoperability standards for healthcare information exchange. You will collaborate with IT teams and other stakeholders to optimize the integration of our electronic health systems. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain HL7 interfaces to facilitate the exchange of health data between systems.
• Analyze and map data to ensure compatibility with HL7 standards (e.g., HL7 v2, HL7 v3, FHIR).
• Work with stakeholders to gather requirements, design solutions, and ensure interoperability between healthcare applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve HL7 integration issues and optimize performance.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, ensuring secure data exchange.
• Monitor and improve the functionality of existing interfaces, ensuring smooth data transmission between different systems.
• Document integration processes and develop interface specifications.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot issues related to HL7 data exchange.
• Collaborate with third-party vendors, IT teams, and clinical departments to manage HL7 interface implementation.
• Test HL7 interfaces thoroughly to ensure accuracy and reliability in data exchange.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Health Informatics, or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience with HL7 interface development and healthcare data integration.
• Familiarity with healthcare systems such as EHR, EMR, LIS, PACS, and RIS.
• Proficiency in SQL and database technologies (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL).
• Understanding of TCP/IP, web services (SOAP/REST), and other communication protocols.
• Familiarity with healthcare regulatory standards (HIPAA, HITECH) and data security practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Experience in scripting and development languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Java) is a plus.
