Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Investment Grade (IG) Credit Research to lead our global team of onshore and offshore analysts. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of a rigorous and disciplined credit underwriting process, ensuring high-quality credit assessments, and formulating sector strategies to support the firm’s investment objectives.

In addition to leading the IG Credit Research function, this individual will play a key role in representing IG Credit across the firm, engaging with Private Equity, Private Credit (including Origination), and other investment teams to provide strategic credit insights and foster cross-platform collaboration.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise credit markets, strong leadership capabilities, and a track record of driving analytical excellence. This role requires strategic thinking, clear communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across investment teams and senior stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Oversight

  • Lead and mentor a team of onshore and offshore credit analysts, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for credit research, analysis, and underwriting.
  • Drive innovation in research methodologies and ensure the team remains at the forefront of market developments.

Credit Research & Underwriting Process

  • Oversee the execution of a rigorous and disciplined credit underwriting process.
  • Ensure consistency, thoroughness, and accuracy in fundamental credit analysis and risk assessments.
  • Establish and refine credit rating frameworks and methodologies to support investment decision-making.

Sector Strategy & Market Insights

  • Develop and articulate sector-specific strategies to support investment decision-making across public and private markets.
  • Monitor market trends, economic developments, and credit fundamentals to assess risks and opportunities.
  • Provide clear and actionable recommendations to portfolio managers and origination teams.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including rating agencies, issuers, and industry experts, to gather insights and enhance research perspectives.

Cross-Team Engagement & Collaboration

  • Act as the key IG Credit representative collaborating across the platform to provide strategic credit insights on investment graded issuers.
  • Support Origination efforts by assessing credit risk and market trends that impact private credit opportunities.
  • Work closely with investment teams to provide synergistic credit perspectives that enhance underwriting across asset classes.
  • Partner with senior leadership to integrate IG Credit insights into firmwide investment strategies.

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Effectively communicate credit views, sector outlooks, and investment recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present research reports, white papers, and investment memos to public and private market teams.
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, investor meetings, and internal cross-platform discussions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in credit research, with a proven leadership track record.
  • Strong knowledge of credit underwriting, fundamental analysis, and fixed-income markets.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a research team and drive analytical excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex credit insights into clear recommendations for public and private investment teams.
  • Deep understanding of macroeconomic factors affecting credit markets and their implications across asset classes.
  • Advanced degree in finance, economics, or a related field preferred; CFA designation is a plus.

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
