Key Responsibilities & Essential Duties:
1. Ensure On-time Delivery & Cost Management
- Proactive Supplier Engagement: Initiate and drive collaborative efforts with external suppliers to improve on-time delivery (OTD), enhance quality metrics, and drive continuous cost reduction.
- Strategic Sourcing: Explore secondary sourcing alternatives to mitigate supply chain risks.
- Inventory Programs: Establish and oversee supplier-led inventory models, such as Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI) and other replenishment methods, to optimize stock levels.
2. MRP Management, Planning & Communication
- Data Integrity: Continuously monitor, update, and maintain highly accurate part and order parameters like lead time, MOQ, etc. within the MRP/ERP system.
- Stakeholder Escalation: Proactively identify potential part shortages and communicate impact immediately to leadership (Supply Chain Lead/Manager, Commodity Managers, Production Planners, and Program Managers).
3. Continuous Improvement & Data Analytics
- Process Optimization: Evaluate existing buying cycles and purchasing workflows to identify bottlenecks and suggest improvements for higher operational efficiency.
- Root Cause & Action Planning: Gather raw information, generate performance reports, and analyze data to find root causes for variances. Create and execute formal corrective and preventive action plans.
- Presentations: Compile findings into professional data summaries and present action plans to internal stakeholders and management teams.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration – represents supply chain on projects requiring Cross-Functional Teams (CFT) engagement. Task with special projects new product introductions (NPI), or manufacturing transitions.
5. International Trade, Compliance & Commercials
- Trade Compliance: Apply foundational knowledge of local and international trade compliance, managing parameters around Incoterms, payment terms, currency/pricing structures, modes of transport, insurance, and risk management.
- Commercial Negotiation: Utilize foundational negotiation skills to secure favorable pricing, flexible lead times, and advantageous terms and conditions (T&Cs) during supplier selections or spot buys.
6. Technical Competency
- Blueprint & Spec Interpretation: Review and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards for purchased parts and raw materials to ensure accurate supplier alignment and conformance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Logistics or any Supply Chain Management course
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in buying and purchasing function.
- Preferably with experience in a manufacturing environment.
