Job Summary:

The Vice President of Operations is responsible for providing leadership, direction and focus to a subset of the total manufacturing facilities that are within the respective product category in order to ensure operational excellence, structured growth and long-term strategic management.

The primary goal of the position is to safely deliver world class manufacturing focused on delivering zero quality defects, 100% on time delivery, and year over year productivity improvements to ensure efficient management of expenses and capital investments. This will be achieved through managing a team of Directors of Operations who lead each facility.

The VP of Operations is responsible for metrics for the respective areas of responsibility in the broad categories of revenue, profit, cash flow, quality, on time delivery, forecasting, planning, safety, product transfers, new product introductions, inventory and capital management .

This individual is responsible for the development and execution of manufacturing strategies, footprint additions and/or consolidations, major product transfers, New Product Introductions (NPI) and all relevant manufacturing engineering. They are expected to be a key contributor to and active supporter of, the development and execution of the Integer Production System. In addition, the incumbent will interact with customers as necessary and contribute to the development of commercial proposals and sales strategies as required.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to Integer Values and all safety, environmental, security and quality requirements including, but not limited to: Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety, Environmental and Security Management Systems, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, company policies and operating procedures, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Successfully lead the Directors of Operations and other plant leadership team members to manage all factory operations including manufacturing safety, quality, productivity, cost, engineering, facility & continuous improvement activities.
  • Responsible for building and leading a high performing team including talent selection, development, mentoring, performance management, building bench strength and succession plans; ensure strong bench strength across operations and encourage learning and development
  • Promote a culture of diversity and inclusion while maintaining a sense of local identity in and across C&V sites.
  • Embraces and leads all aspects of a robust S&OP process
  • Collaborates with Commercial teams to ensure strong customer relationship development and management; partners on business development activities including supporting sales closes, assessment of business cases and partnership in periodic customer business reviews
  • Coordinates and directs facility operations across the Product Category, including but not limited to manufacturing, asset utilization, inventory control, facilities control, building layout and construction, maintenance, manufacturing projects and studies, cost controls, labor utilization, work standards, and administration. 
  • Along with Product Category President and SVP, Operations, leads and manages the annual budget planning process and is responsible for the achievement of the agreed upon financial goals
  • Develops in depth familiarity with Integer products, manufacturing technology, and capabilities across the sites. Keeps abreast of next generation/new technology application applicable to the site. Key contributor to the definition of product strategy and delivery of the product roadmap across the Product Category.
  • Champions Integers Quality Policy and Vision; demonstrates a commitment to quality and “putting the patient first”; ensures adherence to Quality System and customer change control systems.
  • Accountable for quality standards across the Product Category; champions continuous improvement activities that improve QA/RA metrics and drives ownership of QA/RA metrics across the business.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to identify best practices across the organization and drives standard policies and practices across operations enterprise wide; collaborates cross functionally to ensure achievement of business goals and strategic objectives.  Provides intellectual, experiential leadership and contributes to the business overall growth objectives through participation and support of corporate development initiatives. 
  • Fosters a continuous improvement culture; driving the development of innovative and effective productivity and cost reduction programs including the development and execution on the Integer Production System and other lean initiatives. 
  • Leads the planning and execution of global manufacturing capacity utilization to meet business requirements.
  • Collaborates with Finance and provides in depth analysis of financial performance of manufacturing facilities, identifying soft spots in budgets, variance plans and providing over all leadership to Operations Directors in the attainment of financial targets. 
  • Ensures compliance with all government, financial, environmental, and labor regulations as required.
  • Responsibility for all site based NPI groups, new product launches, volume ramps.
  • Responsible for all manufacturing engineering, process technologies, factory automation, and the Cardio & Vascular Group’s “Idea Center.”
  • Actively participates in the review and approval of all large new business opportunity reviews
  • Performs other duties as required including M&A due diligence, Integration of acquisitions, new footprint design and construction etc.

Education & Experience:

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering or similar technical discipline. Masters degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • 8 years’ senior operations management experience in industries with advanced manufacturing processes and technologies
  • Multiple plant leadership experience is a requirement
  • Experience in medical device and/or a regulated manufacturing environment is a strong asset, but not a requirement
  • Experienced in developing and sustaining products in compliance with ISO standards is a requirement.  Experience in an FDA regulated environment will be a strong asset
  • Proven track record of managing technical employees, building high-performance manufacturing organizations and delivering high quality products on time and on budget
  • Proven track record of delivering results in a high-performance continuous improvement environment through implementation of and expertise with the latest lean management methods. Demonstrated business acumen with understanding of the P&L and balance sheet. Integrity-based leader, builds trust, initiates transparency into problems, demonstrates genuine care for people
