Job Description:

This is a strategic position to establish and maintain the asset management capability in Sun Life HK (SLHK AMC). The acquisition of such capability locally is primarily to meet market demands of MPF and future business expansion for retail wealth products (ILAS). The role would require a personality who possesses adequate qualification and experience in the field of asset management (AM), ideally in the local AM market, and with a working track record that could command statue and credibility in the market, including the regulators. A key mandate of this role is to design and implement the suitable product structure that could enhance the palatability of our MPF and investment products (ILAS). Apart from being the leader to lead the execution of the AMC, this role will be responsible for the delivery of the financial and operational objectives of the company (e.g. target profitability and asset-under-management)

Major Accountabilities

• Serving as one of the Responsible Officers of the newly established asset management company (SFC Type 4 and Type 9) under Sun Life Hong Kong Limited
• Develop the business model, critical success factors and risk/mitigation that concerns the AMC set up. Obtain agreement and sign off by the corporate managements.
• Develop a high level project plan for the whole processes and propose/engage sufficient professional/technical resources to complete the process within a specified time span in the business plan.
• Personally attend to the task of obtaining the relevant statutory (SFC) licenses to commence operation
• Implement the restructure of the MPF constituent funds into a fund-of-fund structure
• Execute and deliver the financial and operational objectives of the company (e.g. target profitability and asset-under-management)
• With the assistance of the CIO, provide robust management oversight on fund manager selection and governance
• Building the brand of the company among institutional and retail market
• Supporting the growth of Sun Life Hong Kong Pension and Individual Wealth Product Business by profitable innovative product solutions

Skills, Education and Experience

• Solid and hands-on experience in the field of asset management, including sound insights of the the fund manager landscape
• Respectable statue and credibility in the eyes of regulators
• High professional integrity
• Strong business initiation and drive to deliver sales and profitability target
• Leadership and management capability in leading a team of professionals
• 15years working experience in investment, fund management or asset management
• Degree holder in recognized universities, preferably in the field of finance and economics
• MBA preferred
• CFA qualification
