Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Manager of Media Finance supporting Loblaw Advance who will serve as a key business partner, collaborating with cross-functional teams to provide insights that enhance business performance and play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategy and operational effectiveness of our media business. This position requires a combination of analytical expertise, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of the media landscape. You will be responsible for overseeing the financial performance of our media offerings, establishing reports that highlight we are delivering meaningful returns, and that our investments are aligned to overall business objectives.

In this dynamic environment, you will lead the forecasting and month-end revenue recognition processes, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that financial accuracy is met within the required timelines. You will leverage data-driven insights to report on the business’ overall performance. Your ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings to stakeholders at all levels will be essential in driving informed decision-making.

As the media landscape evolves, you will also be tasked with identifying new opportunities for growth and innovation within Loblaw Advance. By staying abreast of industry trends and best practices, you will help the organization maximize its media potential while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

This role not only requires technical financial skills but also strong leadership capabilities. You will mentor and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence while ensuring financial sustainability and profitability.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Act as the primary business lead for finance and revenue operations, driving strategic financial initiatives including, but not limited to, continuous process implementations and improvements, system enhancements, and establishing key business reports while ensuring financial accuracy and sustainability
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sales, product performance, and client engagement to assess the effectiveness of Loblaw Advance initiatives
  • Develop comprehensive financial and data reporting projects that provide insights into sales and territory performance, analyzing results against account executive targets to identify risks and opportunities
  • Lead and mentor a dynamic team of financial professionals including FP&A Managers, Senior Finance Analysts, and Finance Analysts while overseeing day-to-day operational duties are met, including accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), reporting, and reconciliation tasks
  • Lead revenue operations in forecasting and measuring key sales metrics, including retention, churn, product growth, and client performance, as well as conducting year-over-year analysis
  • Present actionable insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership to identify revenue growth opportunities and formulate risk mitigation strategies aligned with annual sales quotas
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure data integrity and best practices are implemented; support teams in identifying and addressing gaps through audits and continuous improvement processes
  • Serve as the finance lead for the existing Salesforce Cloud system, Advendio, and take ownership of the implementation of new product, reporting, and enhancement initiatives
  • Act as a key stakeholder in the development and administration of the sales compensation program, ensuring alignment with business goals and performance incentives
  • Manage revenue recognition process from order to cash including tasks related to month-end closing, accruals, cost of goods sold, and journal entries.
  • Contribute to the preparation and presentation of periodic KPI metrics to senior leadership and key business stakeholders, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and highlight key trends and areas of opportunity
  • Develop and maintain financial models to assess media performance metrics, ensuring data accuracy and relevance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in a related field such as Business Administration, Advertising, Marketing or Finance (preferred)
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial management preferably within a business partnership capacity
  • Understanding of financial accounting principles
  • Excellent analytical skills, and experience building and working with financial models
  • Experience working with Canadian Industry tools for media buying and financial operations
  • Strong grasp of programmatic media financials as it relates to vendor trafficking and scheduling reconciliation, programmatic fees, and overall bottom-line reconciliation
  • Strong competency in Excel including VLOOKUP & Pivot Tables
  • Agency operations / financial experience is an asset
