Lead, Platform Engineering F/T
Overview
Configure, patch, upgrade, and optimize database software and related products.
Role.
• Perform security, backup/recovery, architecture, networking, and administration for assigned database discipline.
• Work with technology teams for the development, maintenance, testing, implementation, and support of assigned database technologies and associated software products.
• Proactively monitor with advanced troubleshooting skills for database issues escalated by the business team and internal monitoring in a timely manner with strong skills to drive to root cause and remediation of issues.
• Develop a strong partnership with technology teams and customers to understand business needs and with advanced skills to communicate solutions in business terms.
• Understand database security topics including database users, roles, and privileges.
• Understand cloud concepts including database administration activities in cloud solutions.
• Strong to advanced performance and tuning skills with the ability to identify, respond and resolve database performance issues; communicates database performance resolution to technical teams and business partners.
• Successfully follow change management, problem management and incident management processes and procedures.
• May manage large to enterprise project/initiatives with specialized knowledge within assigned discipline and the ability to architect solutions.
• Proactively plan and coordinate larger technical and architectural efforts within the database team and with external technology teams.
• Influence Mastercard best practices in planning, coordinating, implementing, and maintaining database solutions.
• Train and mentor members of the team by contributing to supporting documentation.
• Ability to be on call after hours and weekends.
About You
• Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering, Information Technology, or related and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in job offered or as a Database Engineer, Java Developer, or related. Alternatively, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree and ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience.
• Qualifying experience must include at least three (3) years with each of the following: Database management systems (DBMS): Redis; Cloud technologies: AWS/Microsoft Azure or similar; On-Prem to cloud data migration strategy; Cloud migration tools; Windows and Linux; Automation tools: Chef, Ansible; Scripting knowledge: Python, Shell; Database design, normalization, and optimization techniques; Monitoring and reporting tools: Dynatrace, Splunk; Experience with Database security best practices: Implementation of SSL/TLS, TDE (Transparent data encryption), Access management principles along with authentication mechanisms such as LDAP/AD; Experience with managing database recovery and availability principles by defining and implementing database backup and recovery principles to guarantee point in time recovery for different database technologies; Experience with defining and implementing database resiliency strategy to test and account for different failure scenarios such as network, disaster, power, etc.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay Ranges
O'Fallon, Missouri: $122,000 - $207,000 USD
