Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepares and compounds sterile parenteral products including cytotoxic and hazardous medications using proper aseptic technique, assuring continuous quality control during medication preparation. Performs required calculations and verification of doses.
Assists with accurate order processing, preparation, labelling and dispensing of patient take-home and oral medications; includes timely delivery of study medications to nursing staff and patients.
Assists pharmacists with study Site Initiation Visits (SIV), Interim Monitor Visits and study audits. Assembles materials needed by pharmacist for visits and audits, including reviewed order sets, copies of sponsor materials, copies of Log Sheets, Compounding Sheets, temperature logs and any other required documents or records.
Assists the Pharmacy Purchasing Specialist with commercial drug and supply purchases and assists with inventory control and management.
Assists with daily study drug operations including drug ordering (initial orders and reorders), inventory management (includes assisting with reports), receive, unpack and confirm daily study drug shipments, including confirmation using IVRS systems; assists with study drug destructions, returns and quarantine of drug and all related reports or documentation (include patient returns of oral study drugs).
Assists with training of staff (technicians and student interns) on proper technique and procedures for drug preparation and drug dispensing and software use.
Assists with dispensing of study and commercial drugs to satellites; maintaining quarterly and monthly dispensing report (includes records from all sites).
Assists with home infusion program including managing supplies, reports, drug preparation and drug dispensing.
Assists with Quality Assurance monitoring programs including temperature monitoring and documentation; IV hood cleaning documentation and IV hood certification; checking expiration dates, remove/return expired drugs and managing drug recalls.
Assists with clerical duties in Pharmacy including arranging and labeling bins for drugs, preparing drug binders, checking IDS emails, filing of records and documents, participation in continuing education programs, seminars and all required training and certifications to maintain job status and/or pharmacy licensure as required by law.
Assists with management (restocking, update user list, password assignment, checking for expired drugs, etc) of automated dispensing machines.
