Job Description

Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a motivated Technical Data Analyst intern to join our team. The position is responsible for creating pricing plans to help us accomplish our growth and profitability objectives and requires the person to: 

  • Analyze new and existing data to assure high quality. Resolve data issues by working internally across divisions and externally with statistical agents.
  • Evaluate and submit reoccurring statutory reporting, verification & payment of assessments, and ad-hoc data calls.
  • Organize and provide management with reports to aid in decision making.
  • Effectively communicate with other employees through verbal and written means.
  • Participate in both formal and informal training sessions.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Student must be enrolled for a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or another related technical field, and must be of at least sophomore standing at the time of the application. If graduation is earlier than July of this year, apply to a full-time role instead.
  • High aptitude for mathematics and actuarial sciences
  • Actuarial exams are considered but not required
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL, R or other programming/database/statistical languages
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Above average communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to adapt to constant change and innovation
