PRODUCT ENGINEER IV (LEAD PRODUCT ENGINEER)
JOB SUMMARY
Leads the day-to-day execution of Product Engineering activities within an assigned workcell or customer account. Coordinates engineering resources, prioritizes technical activities, drives issue resolution, and ensures successful execution of product lifecycle, NPI, engineering changes, and customer-driven initiatives. Acts as the primary technical leader for the workcell, providing direction and coordination across Product Engineers, Engineering Technicians, and cross-functional teams to achieve quality, delivery, cost, and customer satisfaction objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Leads the execution of Product Engineering activities within an assigned workcell or customer account.
• Coordinates and prioritizes engineering workload among Product Engineers and Engineering Technicians to ensure timely execution of deliverables.
• Serves as the primary technical escalation point for complex product, manufacturing, and customer issues.
• Leads cross-functional teams in resolving technical challenges impacting quality, delivery, cost, and operational performance.
• Drives implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECO), Engineering Change Notices (ECN), product revisions, and configuration management activities.
• Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI), product transfers, qualifications, and product lifecycle management activities.
• Coordinates engineering readiness for new product launches, engineering changes, and customer requirements.
• Tracks and drives closure of engineering action items, risks, and technical deliverables.
• Interfaces directly with customers regarding technical concerns, project status, engineering changes, corrective actions, and escalations.
• Participates in customer meetings, technical reviews, audits, and business discussions as required.
• Leads structured root cause analysis and problem-solving activities utilizing methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, A3, Fishbone, and 5 Why.
• Drives continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield improvement, scrap reduction, productivity enhancement, and process optimization.
• Supports manufacturing operations by providing technical guidance and rapid response to production issues.
• Coordinates activities across Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Test Engineering, Supply Chain, Planning, and Operations teams to ensure successful execution of business objectives.
• Assesses technical risks and develops mitigation plans to minimize impact to customers and operations.
• Provides technical mentoring and guidance to Product Engineers and Engineering Technicians.
• Monitors engineering performance indicators and drives actions to achieve established business goals.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
• Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing processes, product lifecycle management, and engineering change management.
• Advanced understanding of product structures, Bills of Materials (BOM), Approved Manufacturer Lists (AML), configuration control, and revision management.
• Strong knowledge of New Product Introduction (NPI), product transfers, validation methodologies, and manufacturing readiness processes.
• Proven experience in structured problem-solving and root cause analysis methodologies.
• Strong project coordination and execution skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer-facing and presentation skills.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct reporting authority.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, ERP systems, PLM systems, and business reporting tools.
• Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) or related manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex technical projects, NPI programs, product transfers, and customer-driven initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating technical teams in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience supporting customer-facing programs and technical escalations.
• Master’s Degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent certifications preferred.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
