The Director, Thought Leader Liaisons role is charged with leading a team of Thought Leader Liaisons (TLLs) who engage and work closely with U.S External Experts and Local Influential Physicians (EE’s) in therapeutic areas in which GSK has specialty brand interests.  The role is a marketing role and reports to the Senior Director, Strategic Engagement. The Director, TLLs will follow marketing policies and maintain appropriate coordination with medical, compliance, legal and regulatory guidelines.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to a team of direct report TLLs.  This includes conducting field rides with TLLs, measuring the overall performance and impact of each team member and the collective team.
  • Lead GSK marketing engagement by TLLs with US based EEs.  Partner with marketing leadership to identify top 10%-15% of EEs to target for engagement (solicit input from medical affairs leadership).
  • Ensure a balanced and equitable workload across the team.  This includes leading their efforts in building and maintaining effective working relationships with EEs in the specialty therapeutic areas and establishing regular cadence of contact with assigned EE’s.
  • In partnership with line manager, develop appropriate KPIs and metrics to align with business unit and brand marketing goals, and hold the team accountable to the KPIs and metrics.
  • Manage and coordinate EE executive encounters with commercial leaders.  Includes planning and execution of EE engagements and executive encounters at national conferences, POAs, in field engagements, and other venues as directed in a compliant manner.
  • Lead marketing engagement with key stakeholders as needed and appropriate, including medical affairs, such as acting as support and coordination of commercial advisory boards as directed by leadership.
  • Represent TLL team to sales & marketing leadership during key interactions and meetings.  Serve as TLL point of contact for FVPs and marketing directors, and at brand team meetings and QBRs.
  • A level of player – coach responsibility will be required.  This role will have responsibility for EE engagement (top ~5% of EEs) as well as serving as a backup for their TLLs for all responsibilities (i.e., coverage during PTO, leave, or vacancy, assisting during meeting conflicts & double bookings, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of 10 years of work experience in one or more of the following: field sales, product marketing, or medical / clinical experience in the same or related therapeutic area within the Pharmaceutical / Biotech industry.
  • A minimum of 6 years of any Specialty (e.g., Respiratory Biologic and/or Immunology) biologic management experience required.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to travel ~ 50% - 70% throughout the US.
  • Must live within 30 miles of an international airport.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Strong Account Management skills and experience
  • Marketing and or sales management experience
  • Understanding and experience working across an organization to engage effectively with HCPs
  • Demonstrated team leadership skills.
  • Ability to present ideas effectively to individuals or groups, targeting presentation to the needs of the audience.
  • Strong project management experience, including superior analytical and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated strong orientation to ethics and compliance.
  • Ability to assemble and lead teams toward a shared vision of success.
  • Ability to deliver agreed objectives under tight timelines.
