PRN Registered Radiology Technologist

Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment, and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. Radiology Technologists may go on to specialize in more specific imaging techniques such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computer tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear medicine.  
 

A caregiver in this position works varying shifts.


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Perform general radiology exams, portable exams and fluoroscopic procedures.  

  • Produce quality images for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.  

  • Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.  

  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during and after the exam.  

  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.  

  • Maintain documentation.  

  • Address equipment malfunctions, notify management and report malfunctions to the help desk and PACS administrator.  

  • Assist with scheduling procedures, monitor and determine priority of patients, and process billing.  


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.  

  • Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and in good standing.  

  • Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist.  

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.  


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist.

​Physical Requirements:

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
