Position Title: Locum Staff Specialist - Haematology Pathologist
Employment Type: Temporary Part Time from 07.04.26 to 17.05.26 with the option to extend if needed.

Hours per week: 0.6 FTE
Position Grade: Staff Specialist
Salary: As per the award
Enterprise Agreement: The Named NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisations’ Staff Specialist Agreement 2021

About the role:

SydPath is a wholly owned business unit of the St Vincent’s Hospital Network, comprised of St Vincent’s Hospital Darlinghurst and the Sacred Heart Health Service, Darlinghurst. The Network is part of an integrated network of clinical services that aim to ensure timely access to appropriate care for all residents in New South Wales.

SydPath is a fully accredited NATA/RCPA registered facility offering a comprehensive range of pathology services in the disciplines of Haematology, Chemical Pathology, Clinical Pathology, Microbiology, Immunopathology/HIV, Molecular Pathology and Anatomical Pathology.  Per NPAAC Supervisory requirements, there must be at least one full time equivalent, in aggregate, on-site Pathologist with the relevant Scope of Practice for each pathology test offered.

The Haematology Pathologist is responsible for supervisory management of high-quality diagnostic services within their in partnership with the Head of Haematology Division and the Director of Pathology.

Selection Criteria:

  • Full medical registration with Australian Medical Board (or eligibility for full registration)
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia
  • Sound knowledge of private/public pathology and proven leadership qualities and a capacity for Executive Administrative responsibilities, including financial responsibilities particularly in a Pathology setting
  • High level of clinical competence, knowledge of future advances in Pathology
  • Vision and commitment to research, teaching and academic leadership in Pathology
  • Willingness to be an Approved Pathology practitioner and hold a current APP undertaking under section 23DC of the Health Insurance Act 1973 (Cth)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
