Job Summary:

As an Assistant Project Manager Intern, you will be responsible for managing and implementing the delivery of quality software applications. This internship will provide the opportunity to learn about Project Management, and Information Technology, and facilities software used by government agencies. You will work on projects that will give you hands-on experience with myriad of IT software and tools, project management methodology, business analysis, quality assurance and change management. The opportunity will allow you to sharpen your communication and problem-solving skills in a business environment. You will also gain firsthand knowledge and experience of working with a software development company and while learning how to implement software for government agencies and businesses.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities

  • General

    • Work collaboratively with team members, actively participate in discussions, decisions, and all project activities

    • Communicate and coordinate with coworkers and customers

  • Project Management

    • Planning, scheduling of resources, and forecasting work.

    • Contact project team members and record status updates for their assigned tasks

    • Assist Project Managers/Implementation Specialists with administrative tasks, status meetings, metrics, and the delivery of status reports.

    • Execute project deliverables

      • Training materials and training

      • Documentation of processes

      • System related setup

      • Walk-through and testing

    • Document resourcing needs, availability and commitments. Identify and manage scope, constraints, risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and deadlines; document risk mitigation plans.

  • Maintain and Update PMO Documentation

  • Assist in the production of Statements of Work (SOWs) and Requests for Proposal (RFPs)

  • Travel: Minimal (0-10% per year)


Essential Qualifications

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor of Science or Arts

  • Pursuit of the Project Management Institute (PMI) CAPM or PMP Certification

  • Adept with MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) or equivalent

  • Interest in software implementation and project management

  • Strong interpersonal skills:

    • Ability to actively listen to clients and colleagues

    • Ability to be a leader and a consultant - to remain calm under pressure, problem solve and be practical

    • Ability to communicate effectively, convey complex ideas, provide best practice recommendations and foster trust

  • Strong Documentation Skills

    • Ability to review, update and maintain documentation

    • Ability to understand, record and assist with the prioritization of business requirements, issues, risks, action items and decisions

    • Ability to break down complex processes into step by step instructions

  • Project Management Skills

    • Ability to demonstrate flexibility in the role and the tasks assigned to meet project objectives

    • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a results-driven, high utilization and team-oriented environment

    • Ability to accurately assess level of effort, and request support/delegate tasks where necessary in order to meet project deadlines

  • Motivated, proactive, and take pride in one’s work

  • Ability to work in both team and individual environments


Preferred Qualifications

  • Programming experience (basic SQL, Report development, Javascript, java, etc.)

  • Experience with CMMS, IWMS or FRP software

  • Experience with the Atlassian suite of products or equivalent

  • Experience with NetSuite OpenAir or equivalent

  • Experience with Microsoft Project
