About The Role
We’re seeking a Staff Engineer to help drive technical excellence and innovation across our platform, with a particular focus on leveraging AI to transform how global talent connects with opportunities. You’ll work on complex technical challenges that span our entire platform, from AI-powered matching algorithms to scalable marketplace infrastructure.

What You’ll Do
Technical Leadership

  • Drive architectural decisions and technical strategy for key platform initiatives.

  • Design and implement core platform capabilities that power our AI-driven talent matching.

  • Lead the technical evolution of our systems to support rapid scaling and enhanced AI capabilities.

  • Mentor other engineers and elevate the technical discourse across the organization.

  • Collaborate with product teams to translate ambitious goals into practical technical solutions.

System Design & Implementation

  • Architect and build scalable systems that handle complex matching algorithms and marketplace dynamics.

  • Design and implement AI-powered features that enhance our talent evaluation and matching capabilities.

  • Create robust, maintainable solutions that can scale with our global user base.

  • Establish technical standards and best practices for system reliability and performance.

Cross-functional Impact

  • Work closely with product managers to shape technical strategy and execution.

  • Partner with data scientists to implement and optimize AI/ML models.

  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with global data privacy regulations.

  • Guide technical decisions across multiple teams and workstreams.

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.

  • 7+ years of technical leadership experience driving complex projects.

  • Strong background in distributed systems and scalable architectures.

  • Experience building and scaling marketplace platforms or similar complex systems.

  • A track record of making significant technical decisions that impacted product direction.

  • Experience mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence.

  • Strong understanding of AI concepts and their practical applications.

  • Excellence in written and verbal communication, particularly in technical contexts.

  • While the Andela team is distributed across the world, this role is US-based.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI/ML platform development.

  • Background in talent matching algorithms or recommendation systems.

  • Experience with large-scale data processing and analytics.

  • Familiarity with global compliance and data privacy requirements.

  • A track record of publishing technical content or speaking at conferences.

  • Experience working with distributed, remote teams.

Compensation

Total compensation for this role includes a base salary ranging from $175,000 to $215,000 per year, plus equity. The final package will be tailored to the candidate’s experience, location, and specific expertise.
