How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The purpose of a Turbine Fitter is to support production by providing effective equipment maintenance and reliability while adhering to procedures/codes, and utilising all available support resources to increase stability and maintain sustainability of the plant.
The candidate must have the knowledge, skills and experience necessary for this position.

Business/Technical.  

  • Compliance to Plant / Mine Specific Technical training matrices and task observations (Foreman & Training personnel feedback)

  • Execute critical tasks, assessed and recorded by the assessor. E.g: Foreman, Trainer, etc

  • Signed off job cards, permits, inspection checklists, etc (evidence of documents)

  • Conduct quality equipment / plan inspections (Job cards initiated from inspection)

  • Work management adherence (Can explain to Foreman)

  • Demonstrates applicable process knowledge (Can explain the basic process)

Safety (SHERQ).  

  • Compliance of Safety Management Systems e.g.: IMS, MBO, etc

  • Able to apply emergency procedures

  • Read, interpret, and implement task risk assessment

  • Hazard identification / task risk assessments

Stakeholder Relations. 

Ensure sound stakeholder relationship management by influencing decisions and actions of stakeholders in other departments/disciplines by providing relevant technical input.  Facilitate effective communication  up and down from management and also within own and other stakeholder teams.

People Management 

  • Share knowledge with junior artisans in a known environment / context

  • Work independently

Educational requirements

  • NQF 4 Trade Test(Red seal)

  • NQF 4 Qualification (CHIETA)

  • Section 28 Trade Tested Artisan, appointed after RPL completed

Experience

  • 18 months experience as an Artisan - 

  • Statutory requirement:

    • Permit to work acceptance (As recipient / executor) where applicable

    • Basic rigging as per area needs, scaffold user training, behavior based safety training, basic OSH act course (2 days)

    • Basic computer literacy (basic navigation e.g. ESS)

Knowledge and Know-how specific to the job

  • Must have a strong knowledge and understanding Health and Safety rules, regulations and processes

  • Must have a strong knowledge and understanding of  Statutory Governance Requirements

  • Must have a strong knowledge of Maximo, Navision and the Google suite of products

    • Knowledge of all SHE Induction procedures and Plant specific safety

    • Computer literacy

    • Overhead crane

    • Lifting equipment and inspection procedure

    • Yard crane

    • Lubrication systems and principles

    • Specialized gasket installation procedures

    • Insulation requirements

    • Basic knowledge of production process

    • Maintain and repair heat exchanger systems, vessels, columns and fin-fans

    • Centrifugal pumps

    • Align rotating equipment by using laser technology

    • Advanced knowledge of bearing mounting

    • Gearbox and Drives maintenance

    • Isometric drawings

    • KSB pumps

    • V-Belts

    • Interpret vibration analysis and condition monitoring results

    • Install and maintain mechanical seals
