About this role

As a Accounting Specialist, you will ensure accounting activity recorded within the company’s records and books are accurate and complete. you will be responsible for budgeting, product costing, recording, reporting, analyzing and communicating functional/business activity results. You will assist the function/business management teams in financial analysis necessary for decision-making.

In this role, you will require understanding of key business drivers for your discipline and function. You will need to be able to expand conceptual and working knowledge related to your discipline or functional area. You are expected to provide informal guidance to new team members and be able to explain complex information to others.

It is your responsibility to use technical experience, established practices, and personal judgement to analyze and resolve straightforward problems. Your performance impacts the quality of your own work and your team’s work and requires that you work within established guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities – Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role

  • Lead system and process implementations, ensuring geographic area requirements are fully fulfilled.
  • For any M&A activity, partner with global and regional project team to finalize work process and test the system.
  • Implement new work processes and system changes.
  • Provide 2nd level support to the fixed asset team members for ongoing, run the business activity.
  • Implement changes that further automate and optimize the fixed asset work process.
  • Ensure the correct application of capital vs expense accounting policy.
  • Support capital project leaders with accounting guidance and system requirements
  • Deliver quality training to the end-users on system functionalities and tools.
  • Maintain area work process documentation and training material.
  • Support audit requirements, e.g., tax, internal, external
  • Record fixed assets by creating and supervising a system of procedures, forms, and controls.
  • Recommend any updates to accounting policies affecting fixed assets to management.
  • Perform Analysis of Capital Work in Progress account, Sub Ledger Clearing Accounts, Fixed Assets Cost and Accumulated accounts.
  • Preparation of all the Blackline reconciliations monthly as per the defined standards set by Corporate for reconciliations.
  • As may be requested by management, perform fixed asset related analysis.
  • Create fixed asset related audit schedules and collaborate with auditors on their assignments.

Education

  • Bachelor of Commerce
  • Chartered Accountant or US CPA preferred

Experience

  • Core Fixed Asset Accounting experience is must (min 6 years)
  • Strong SAP experience in Fixed Asset Module (min 3 years)
  • Systems and or process training
  • Required MNC experience (US based)

Competencies

  • Works within defined technical processes and procedures or methodologies and help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments.
  • Highly proficient financial accountant following US GAAP and process oriented.
  • Highly motivated with strong aspirations to achieve and develop.
  • Detailed and analytical thinker
  • Proficient in SAP finance – financial accounting module
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Good communication skills
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
