Senior Workers Compensation Technical Specialist – Major Case Unit (MCU)

The AIG Workers’ Compensation (WC) Major Case Unit (MCU) is a group of well trained and highly dedicated claim professionals with an average of 26 years WC claim handling experience. We take a collaborative approach in handling large, complex, and catastrophic claims.  Team members excel from sharing each other’s strengths and experiences.  This position provides the opportunity to engage/work with senior claim and underwriting management, and for growth within the company.

How you will create an impact

  • Lead and direct a team within the Workers Compensation Major Case Unit, which handle high valued and complex claims.
  • Manage and drive team’s overall results to ensure compliance through established Best Claim, Service and Communication Practices in contributing to critical objectives.
  • Evaluate ongoing performance of team by completing open file reviews, providing ongoing coaching/counseling to continually improve individual and team performance.
  • Provide technical expertise and mentor MCU team with focus on producing high quality work resulting in the most appropriate outcome and deploy appropriate training which advances career pathing opportunities.
  • Approve reserves to ensure accuracy of financial exposure on complex claims.
  • Develop resolution strategy plans and continually assess and update to achieve appropriate claim results.

 

What you will need to succeed

  • 12+ years claims adjusting experience including 8+ years Workers’ Compensation experience and 5+ years Workers’ Compensation claims management or claims technical oversight, i.e., Home Office, experience required. 
  • Adjuster’s license as required by state.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • Leadership and organizational skills
  • Technical claim handling skills
  • Strong (oral/written) communication and interpersonal skills
  • Mentoring and coaching skills

For positions based in Jersey City, NJ the base salary range is $104,000-$130,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. A summary of benefits  can be viewed here: 2024 Benefits Overview
