A Day in the Life

We are looking for a motivated individual with strong analytical skills to join our team. The Associate Advanced Analytics Analyst will be work on design, deployment, and support of the Gen AI and Machine Learning models, pipelines, and tools supporting Global Operations & Supply Chain. The goal is to help drive proactive intelligent decisions at scale with predictive / prescriptive analytics and structured analysis of broad sets of data. The candidate will work closely with the business teams to strategize, build, execute, and productionize AI/ML programs that enable insights into key drivers of strategic imperatives and operations metrics. They will empower leaders to make proactive decisions that improve business outcomes and service to our customers in a cost-effective way.

The position will also focus on efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of ML models. A successful candidate will have in-depth technical knowledge of machine learning and would take part in the full cycle of the development process which includes but is not limited to design, implementation, debugging, testing and integration with other subsystems.

A Day in the Life
• Execution:
o Work independently and as a part of large teams to implement strategic imperatives and establish operational plans for multiple Global Ops programs. Recognized expert in professional discipline
o Analyze, quantify, and visualize large amounts of data from multiple disparate sources to generate verifiable conclusions
o Develop, inspect, transform, mine, and model data to support business processes with large language models, statistical significance, forecasting, anomaly detection, decision trees, logistic regression, probabilities, etc.
• Productionization:
o Manage all aspects of end-to-end analytics, model execution, data accuracy monitoring, drift monitoring, model re-training, utilizing customized report building functions of systems
o Develop, configure, and maintain our GenAI / machine learning infrastructure and pipelines, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and secure.
o Work closely with other data scientists to operationalize machine learning models, including deployment, monitoring, and version control.
o Implement automated processes for data validation, model training, model evaluation, and model deployment.
o Optimize machine learning workflows for performance and efficiency.
o Develop tools and frameworks to enable end-to-end automation of the AI lifecycle.
o Monitor and analyze model performance and data quality and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
• Lead, Mentor, and Evangelize:
o Partner with AI/ML practitioners inside and outside Medtronic to bring the latest best practices, tools, and techniques
o Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and practices in GenAI, ML, MLOps and incorporate them into our workflows as appropriate.
o Communicate data stories and insights to the non-technical community, describe model outcomes to technical team. Lead and mentor other data scientists on the team

Must Haves
• Master’s degree in science, engineering, or technical discipline required
• Strong expertise in machine learning, large language models, data engineering, and software development
• Expertise in AI/ML and GenAI tools (Azure OpenAI, Databricks, Snowflake Intelligence, etc.)
• Data query skills with SQL
• Hands-on experience with building and productionizing AI/ML Models
• Proficient in Python and R. Familiarity with machine learning frameworks
• Expertise in setting up and maintaining Git for version control and deliverables management
• Experience with DevOps tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud services (AWS, Azure)
• Expertise in BI tools (PowerBI, etc.) in a large-scale, complex business environment

Nice to Haves
• Understanding of ETL methodologies, data warehousing, dimensional modelling, and related tools
• Experience working with Global Operations of large organizations, preferably in medical devices.
• Ability to learn, lead, mentor, educate and support team members
• Excellent understanding of data analytic and statistical tools, capable of explaining the underlying concepts and principles.
• Experience working with large volumes of data from multiple operations functions
• Proven leadership skills and business acumen; performance driven. Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to interface and influence at all organizational levels.
• Demonstrated ability in managing/supporting multiple projects in a deadline driven environment.
• High level of initiative and passion to drive change.

• Develops, inspects, mines, transforms, and models data to raise productivity, improve decision making, and gain competitive advantage.
• Conducts statistical analysis on data and information to ensure correct predictive forecasting or classification.
• Manages all aspects of end-to-end data processing utilizing customized report building functions of systems.
• Maintains analytical systems, verifies the accuracy of the data, and acts as a liaison to the business.

SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: Typically an individual contributor with responsibility in a professional discipline or specialty. Delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering and overseeing the projects – from design to implementation - while and adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education.

Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A), 0 years of experience required.
