Our Headquarters are located on the Torrey Pines Mesa, in La Jolla, California at the center of the biotech hub. Our Manufacturing facility is in Sorrento Valley. This role reports to our HQ location.

Position Summary:

As a Systems Integration Research Engineer 1, working at the center of our highly skilled and seasoned scientific and engineering teams, you will have the opportunity to experience a highly collaborative, cross-functional and multi-disciplinary work environment. You will stretch your abilities to identify problems, troubleshoot and come up with solutions to challenging problems.

This role requires experience with DNA sequencing, wet lab background and data analysis. You will also have experience troubleshooting systems. We are looking for an individual with a strong desire to solve problems and has a demonstrated track record of doing so; someone who holds themselves and their work to high standards, can provide examples of rigor in their work. This person will be meticulous, organized, and thorough and utilize a systematic approach to their work.

What you will do (responsibilities): 

  • Work closely with the engineering teams to support instrument development and subsystem characterization.
  • Analyze data using analytical tools (e.g., Python) and document and present results to the team.
  • Develop new analytical tools and dashboards to inform system and process improvements.
  • Characterize and troubleshoot hardware and software performance.
  • Prepare consumables and execute experiments on a daily schedule.
  • Complete documentation to support testing procedures including data capture, forms, logbooks, and Jira tickets.
  • Support field troubleshooting escalations as needed.

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with DNA sequencing
  • Biologic wet lab background.
  • Strong experimental skills, demonstrated by work experience, coursework, or internships.
  • Technical troubleshooting experience in both Hardware & Software.
  • Data analysis experience.
  • Ability to write scripts in Python.
  • Experience in several of the follow areas: DNA sequencing, fluorescence microscopy, micro-fluidics, Jira, PowerBI, Linux, MongoDB.
  • Detail-oriented, conscientious and strong team player.

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $62,100 - $81,900. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Should the level of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
