Job Purpose:

Evaluate and upgrade Gema's existing customers' powder systems, to assist in selling retrofit/conversion packages and to follow up with customer to ensure satisfaction with product performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and service equipment in customer's facility by scheduling in advance, by unscheduled courtesy visits or emergency service calls.  Troubleshooting may require the use of a variety of electrical and mechanical tools provided by the customer or by Gema.  Coordination with the Key service, Installation, Product Development and Sales personnel is required.
  • Understand and be able to assist or demonstrate applications expertise and physical capabilities with all Gema equipment across all products available.  This includes visiting customer facilities and providing information and direction in solving application problems or recommending improvements in process efficiency.
  • Evaluate and upgrade Gema's existing customers' powder systems to enhance customer relations and open the door to sales potential by performing an audit of existing equipment performance.  This may include, but is not limited to, gathering data on amount of power sprayed from guns, amount of powder applied to part, film thickness measurements, production data and product dimensional information.  From data collected, submit findings and recommendations to office to be prepared into a formalized proposal.  Finally, as needed, present proposal to customer.
  • Provide working supervision and installation assistance of Booth Systems, Retrofit and Conversion Packages by working with customer supplied work crew, outside contractors or Gema supplied installation crew.  Direction on how to properly locate, install, start up and troubleshoot equipment being installed.  Responsibility of installation will be expected when work crew is not provided.
  • Assist distributors and regional sales managers in sales of all Gema equipment on an as-needed basis, be involved in the selling process for new equipment purchases.  This would include demonstrating or discussing with customers features and benefits of our products and service programs.  Also, this position should be able to present and sell service agreements to new and existing customers and perform paid service calls as needed.
  • Analysis of customer inventory and usage stocking levels is an important aspect that is coupled with the responsibility of developing tailored operations and maintenance programs.  This process is in coordination with distribution to ensure proper support stocking levels, assistance with consignment inventories and an on-going local service support.
  • Provide training to distributor and customer personnel on proper use of equipment by conducting in-plant class room and on-floor training programs.  Programs may require training materials to be organized and prepared in advance by the ServiceNet Technician.  Distribution support will require on-site technical support, service, set up and demonstration assistance.
  • Prepare appropriate and timely reports to distributors, regional managers and supervisor.
  • Travels extensively and requires regular motor vehicle transport of tools and company product across state lines.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manages one subordinate supervisor who supervises a total of 1-10 employees of an outside contractor and customer employees.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the work being done.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training customer's employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.  Sets and assists in the expectations for proper use and maintenance of Gema or other's equipment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one and a half to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have fundamental electrical knowledge including the use of typical electrical test meters for troubleshooting and have a fundamental understanding of electrical schematics and mechanical prints.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, schematic, diagram, or schedule form.

Specific job duties requiring the physical demands listed above:

  • Carrying briefcase with lap top or tool case.
  • Lifting customer's production parts up and down; on and off the conveyor line.
  • Vision requirement for up-close work with tools, electrical circuitry and wiring, color match, contamination or application evaluation.
  • Vision requirements for safety in production area of plants and for proper driving.

Specific job duties that are affected by the environmental conditions listed above:

  • Work is performed in and around moving conveyor of parts.
  • Work is performed with nuisance airborne dust particles.
  • Work may be performed in or around existing liquid paint and solvent materials.
  • Periodic work may be required in or around loud (greater than 84dB) processes or machines.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:  This job requires a "hands-on" work ethic and characteristics.  Physical Labor is an essential part of this job.  Problem solving skills and reasoning are critical to this position.  Work after hours (between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.) is periodically required.  Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet travel demands.  Self-motivated personality is required.  Pleasant and positive attitude is required.

This position is an extension of how Gema is perceived or presented in the market.  Clean and neat appearance is required.  Suitable attire and behavior are required at all times.  Some facilities may also require the use of safety shoes, safety glasses and hard hat.  It is expected that all Gema employees will comply with customer safety regulations and report unsafe conditions.
