Leidos has an opening for an IT Project Management Product Lead for our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) project in Fort Detrick, MD, working with the Enterprise Information Technology Project Management Office (eIT PMO).  The eIT PMO supports medical research IT solutions to the United States Army Medical Research and Development Command (USAMRDC) with the mission to facilitate full coordination, planning, management, and execution of the project to ensure successful acquisition and sustainment of the required IT solution.  While working in a hybrid telework environment, the position will provide a fast-paced and engaging opportunity to provide administrative and office support activities assisting the critical mission of the USAMRDC. WHAT YOU WILL DO

We are seeking a skilled LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) Product Lead to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the project management and configuration, installation, training, testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of the LabVantage LIMS. Experience working with research laboratories is highly desirable.

Primary Duties:

  • Interface with civilians, military, and contractors on and off the Ft. Detrick campus in person or via teleconference on a routine basis.

  • Coordinate tasking for a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the implementation, FDA validation, and sustainment of COTS software packages deployed in the DoD network environment to meet strategic goals, both on schedule and within budget. 

  • Follow policies, procedures, and standards related to the use of computing resources, overall strategy, design, implementation, and operational aspects of multiple systems, operating environments, and related software.

  • Create system roadmap plans and project schedules, prepare and conduct feasibility studies for enhancements to existing system(s), including preparation of system development and/or upgrade implementation cost estimates.

  • Develop and coordinate all product documentation requirements per the eIT PMO systems lifecycle.

  • Work with PMO Business Operations Lead (BOL) to coordinate and facilitate any needed actions on the Product contract(s), including contract modifications, renewing Option Years, and submitting Purchase Requests; requires the ability to reference Call Orders and CLINs to answer specific Product-related questions.

  • Assist with implementation of software changes and design and execution of operational tests and evaluations as part of the change management process.

  • Conduct weekly team meetings and provide guidance to others to achieve goals and remain compliant with established policies. 

  • Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments. A Product Lead may, at times, need to carry out extensive research and analysis to identify appropriate software solutions for customer needs and requirements.

  • Support configuration and customization of LabVantage LIMS components such as Biobanking, Consumables Management, Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN)/Laboratory Execution System (LES), Array Management, Request Management, and Reports to meet the specific requirements of our research laboratories.

  • Provide comprehensive training and ongoing support to end-users on the utilization and optimization of LabVantage LIMS components, ensuring efficient adoption and adherence to best practices.

  • Lead and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities for these specific components, working closely with stakeholders to address feedback and ensure alignment with user requirements.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate LabVantage LIMS components with other laboratory systems and applications, facilitating seamless data exchange and interoperability.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Biobanking, Consumables Management, ELN/LES, Array Management, Request Management, and Reports functionalities within LabVantage LIMS.

  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies related to laboratory information management, with a focus on advancements in Biobanking, Consumables Management, ELN/LES, Array Management, Request Management, and Reporting capabilities.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (REQUIRED SKILLS):

  • U.S. citizenship required or verified permanent residency. Must be able to complete a NACI background investigation.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related technical field and 8-12 years of prior related experience, or master’s degree with 2-6 years of prior related experience. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Project Management expertise and solid knowledge of information technology tools, processes, and procedures

  • Understanding of budget, contracting, procurement, and other business operations activities.

  • Extensive experience working with research laboratories.

  • Experience working with LabVantage LIMS software and components.

  • Strong verbal and written communication and organization skills are necessary to interface with multiple teams on business and information management processes.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command customers, processes, and guidelines.

  • Understanding of the DoD Acquisition Process per DoD 5000.75.

  • General understanding of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 21 CFR Regulations and Guidelines.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
