The opportunity:

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Senior Cloud Operations Engineer. Reporting to the Senior Manager – CloudOps & FinOps, you will be accountable for the support & delivery of operational services, lifecycle & compliance management, monitoring, and optimization of cloud-based infrastructure.

As a 2IC to the Senior Manager, you will have a deep understanding of cloud technologies, experience in working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and ensure seamless cloud operations within a dynamic and innovative organization.

 To do this successfully you will:

  • Support the delivery of operational services required to meet defined service levels in support of AIAA cloud hosted solutions.
  • Manage the life cycle of our cloud services to ensure supportability, security and compliance policies are met.
  • Support the development and enforce policies and procedures for cloud operations, ensuring adherence to best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in change, incident and problem management processes for cloud infrastructure and network assets.
  • Monitor and analyse system performance, proactively troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and stability.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to automate routine tasks, streamline processes, and implement DevOps practices for continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for the operations of the FinOps function.
  • Execute established financial management strategies for cloud resources, optimizing costs and maximizing efficiency.
  • Analyse and monitor cloud usage and spending patterns.

Successful applications will demonstrate:

  • Solid technical experience managing Azure cloud operations and experience in establishing operational processes.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles,
  • Strong understanding of ITIL framework.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation tools for infrastructure-as-code and deployment automation.
  • Experience in effective cost management strategies, tools, models, and processes (FinOps practices).
  • Willingness to be trained on the job and via formalized certifications.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.
