JOB DESCRIPTION:

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) assists in providing a safe, fun, and supportive environment where individuals with a mental illness or addiction gain confidence, build social skills, and engage in learning and leisure activities with peers. The CPRS will achieve the program goal and operation through various job duties to include actively facilitating groups and activities on recovery topics. The CPRS assists clients with articulating personal goals for recovery; assisting participants in determining reasonable and holistic steps in recovery; and identifying barriers to recovery goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Verbalize understanding of what recovery means and articulate it to others.

  • Assist clients with identifying personal strengths in daily living and recovery skills.

  • Be professional, with an attitude of mutual respect and encouragement.

  • Encourage involvement in the center by modeling a positive attitude.

  • Respect confidentiality and program ethics.

  • Facilitate groups that promote recovery through education, advocacy and positive role modeling.

  • Document peer progress in electronic medical records.

  • Attend all trainings.

  • Assist with daily activities that may include group preparation, meal preparation, provide transportation via company van.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Utilize excellent communication skills and the ability to meet requirements of certification. 
  • Basic computer literacy is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

         

Education Level              

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Years of Experience       

  • Lived Experience with Mental Illness/ Substance Use Disorder. Minimum of one year of recovery.
  • Willing to share personal recovery story to assist others.
  • Be active in own recovery and model recovery in a positive way.

Certification/Licensure 

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

  • Must acquire F-endorsement within 30 days of hire date.

  • CPRS Certification is required. Must be able to verify completion of state-approved training program. If not currently certified, must be certified within 90 days of hire unless otherwise approved by the supervisor.

$15.75--$22.00
