ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE:
We have an exciting opportunity available for experienced and enthusiastic Theatre Orderlies to join our friendly and hardworking team in the Operating Theatre Suite on a casual basis.
The Orderly (Perioperative) is responsible for facilitating efficient Perioperative processes, safe transport of patients, ensuring the general Perioperative Services areas to be clean and tidy and ensuring basic equipment and stock are available at all times for the other Perioperative Services staff. The position will be covering a variety of shifts and will require flexibility.
Responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
Providing assistance with the transport and safe transfer of patients between departments, within the operating suite and to/from other local hospitals
Correctly disposing of soiled linen, rubbish and biomedical waste from the theatre after each case/session
Ensuring Perioperative areas are kept clean including floors, walls, shelving and other areas as directed – this includes tearoom areas
Courier Perioperative equipment between units, departments and hospitals if required
Cleaning patient related areas in Surgical Services
ABOUT YOU:
The successful candidate will have:
An awareness of patient confidentiality and application of relevant privacy legislation
Previous training in Manual Handling and/or safe lifting techniques
Highly developed verbal communication skills with the ability to relate to patients and staff
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
Good negotiation and conflict management skill
