The opportunity

January 2025 - August 2025

This role is to carry out tasks to support the forecasting & budgeting, management reporting, analysis, administration, and planning, performed within the Enterprise Planning and Financial Planning & Analysis department. 

Who you’ll work with

You will work with a diverse team of financial professionals from multifaceted backgrounds including CPA, CFA, MBA, etc, and you will report directly to the Manager, Management Reporting & Planning. 

What you’ll do

Data reconciliation  

  • Responsible for expense data reconciliation between different systems and identify issues and discrepancies. 

  • Liaise with internal finance stakeholders to resolve any material discrepancies and propose reclasses/corrections if needed. 

  • Analyze current processes, spot challenges, and identify areas of improvement to assist in forming long-term strategies around Investment Related Expense (IRE) to achieve optimal efficiency. 

Financial planning and analysis 

  • Assist in preparing base quarterly forecast and 3-year plan for assigned divisions, support cost centre and department business partner assumption modelling and integration of top-down budgeting guidance with bottom-up cost centre rollup 

  • Work with Manager, Sr. Manager, and functional partners to assess expenditure drivers and savings levers for both fixed, variable, discretionary and strategic initiative spend.   

  • Contribute to maturing the overall enterprise forecasting and budgeting process, including supporting change management within the team and functional and operating divisions, bringing in best practices for the forecasting and budgeting processes and effectively managing timelines and expectations.   

Analysis 

  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of expenses, and generate reports and presentations for stakeholders, highlighting key expense metrics, trends, and areas of improvement.  

  • Analyze the financial performance of business partners on a monthly basis, identifying key drivers of variances and financial implications of business activity changes and their impact on the forecast and annual budget. 

  • Support discussions and presentation of monthly/quarterly department and/or divisional financial results reviews with cost centre, department and division leaders (where applicable).  

Assist in preparing management reporting 

  • Assist in preparing recurring and ad-hoc reports and presentations, ensuring accuracy and relevance of the material. 

  • Support the preparation of internal stakeholder presentations, materials, and communications related to results, forecasts/budgets, and ad-hoc analysis. 

  • Present and communicate findings, metrics, trends, and observations to various levels across Finance and business partners 

Other: 

  • Continuously assess the effectiveness and efficiency of processes and provide recommendations for improvements. 

  • Assist in developing and maintaining documentation of processes, procedures, and critical paths for deliverables. 

  • Provide timely information and services to internal clients, ensuring their needs are met effectively. 

  • Provide support to team members with various projects and during absences, ensuring continuity of operations and successful completion of work. 

What you’ll need

  • Progress towards a relevant university degree (e.g. business degree with Finance focus) with a proven record of academic and extracurricular achievement.
  • Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices gained from your University program (i.e. in Accounting, Finance) or enrolment in first/ second level of professional accounting program and/or practical experience. 

  • Excellent understanding and experience in using Microsoft Suite products (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word) 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to interact with internal and external customers. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and co-operatively in a team environment. 

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and sustain high productivity levels. 

  • Excellent analytical skills and use of independent judgment in identifying, researching and interpreting information, identifying solutions and making decisions and recommendations. 

  • Effective planning and organizational skills to set priorities in order to meet deadlines. 

  • You should be enrolled in a co-op program or returning back to your studies after the work term is completed
