Our Radiology Nursing - Grand Rapids team encompasses three different service lines - Interventional Radiology Prep and Recovery, Radiology Nursing, and our Adult IV sedation program. Our Interventional Radiology Department sees over 25,000 patients a year and performs over 250 different procedure types from simple lines, tubes and drain placements, to more complex cases such as trauma patients, and thrombectomies. Our nurses in this area prep & recover patients for their procedure, providing assessment, comfort, and education. Radiology Nursing is encompassing of supporting the needs of our imaging modalities (primarily MRI, CT, and PET) with nursing needs for medication administration and monitoring of patients. Our Adult IV sedation program partners with Emergency Care Specialist providers to administer sedation to patients who need it for their MRI or other radiology exams. Our teams are staffed at five locations: Butterworth Hospital, Blodgett Hospital, Lemmen Holton Cancer Pavilion, Cascade (28th&Kraft), and North Evergreen. Our team consists of about fifty highly skilled Registered Nurses, assisted by about 5 Nurse Technicians.
Butterworth is our level 1 trauma and comprehensive stroke center where most emergent procedures are performed. We staff this space from 6:00 am - 10:30 pm Monday-Friday and 7:00 am - 7:00 pm both Saturday and Sunday. Blodgett is a level 3 trauma and primary stroke center. We staff Blodgett 6:30 am -6:00 pm Monday-Friday. Lemmen Holton and Cascade are our outpatient ambulatory locations that we staff 7:30 am - 5:30 pm.
This RN manager is responsible for staff development, retention, performance corrections, interviewing, onboarding, ensuring departmental productivity and quality, and assisting with clinical support when necessary. This nurse manager reports to the Imaging Director, works closely with the Interventional Radiology Nurse Manager & Supervisor, and is on a direct leadership team with six other imaging managers. An Imaging Clinical Nurse Specialist supports this RN manager, nursing informaticist, staff scheduler and high performing charge RN's. This nurse manager oversees 52 direct reports (both RN and NT).
Job Summary
Assumes 24-hour accountability for managing, supervising, and coordinating the operational and financial effectiveness and efficiency of the nursing services/ unit of the hospital. Develops policies, procedures, and processes in coordination with other leaders to ensure the highest quality services are always provided to all customers. Assures presence of a supportive and healthy work environment that promotes retention and embraces diversity. Key responsibilities include unit based goal setting, program development, fiscal management, resource allocation, standards of care, policy and procedure development and interpretation, human resource development, performance improvement, supports a culture of safety and maintenance of interprofessional collaborative relationships.
Nurse Managers in inpatient and outpatient units are REQUIRED to obtain their Nursing Administration or Professional/Specialty Certification within 12 months of assuming the role, or within 12 months of achieving eligibility to sit for the exam if not eligible upon hire in to the role.
