The Business Systems team defines and builds the business IT architecture that supports the commercial operation of Waymo's autonomous fleet. The team stands at the intersection of finance, operations and IT; through creative architecture and expertise we ensure that Waymo has world-class capabilities across all its business processes. In this hybrid role, you will report to an IT and Operations Manager.

You will:

  • Lead in the design and architecture of new cloud systems, focusing on reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement and maintain security best practices across cloud environments, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. Design, implement, and administer identity access management services.
  • Implement comprehensive monitoring systems across cloud infrastructure and applications to detect potential issues early, using tools like Prometheus, Datadog, or CloudWatch.
  • Lead incident response efforts by quickly diagnosing problems, coordinating with relevant teams, and share status updates during outages. Manage problems, service requests, and changes.
  • Develop automated scripts and tools to improve repetitive tasks like provisioning, scaling, and configuration management, applying cloud native services.
  • Analyze system performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and implement optimizations to improve system responsiveness and scalability.

You have:

  • 5+ years experience with Google cloud platform including its services, architecture, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, and familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Expertise in setting up and managing monitoring systems, analyzing logs, and interpreting metrics
  • 5+ years of experience with Linux/Unix system administration, including network configuration and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of DevOps principles like continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) and automation
  • 5+ years experience diagnosing and resolve complex system issues

We prefer:

  • Genetec Security Center or similar solutions
  • Google internal DevOps experience
  • Windows server administration
  • Cloud SQL server administration

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
