About the role

Within this role, you’ll perform program management activities for all leave of absence (LOA) and time off programs at Zillow. These include but are not limited to Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Short Term Disability (STD), Long Term Disability (LTD), Parental Leave (Bonding), Paid Time Off (PTO), and Sick Time (PSST). You’ll report to the Benefits Director and serve as a subject matter authority for leave and time off programs. You’ll work closely with the other Leave of Absence Specialists and the greater Benefits Team.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $79,300.00 - $126,700.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interprets and administers multi-state LOA and time off programs and policies following applicable federal and state employment laws; partners with People Legal and People Tech to implement necessary updates

  • Handle the LOA and Disability third-party vendors, which includes vendor assessments, workflow refinement, day-to-day management, and process improvement

  • Responsible for program compliance

  • Evaluate systemic issues and collaborate with key partners to develop and refine processes and policies

  • Run payroll calculations for short-term disability and state-mandated leave programs across multiple states

  • Support the LOA Specialists with advanced situations, including pay inquiries, workplace accommodations, legal matters, etc

  • Coordinate Worker’s Compensation leaves with the support of Zillow’s Business Risk team

  • Use data analytical skills to assess current programs, update metrics, and provide program and policy improvement recommendations

  • Collaborate with HRBPs to determine the business and People Team’s needs for developing proactive learning resources in the leave and time off space

  • Work closely with our People Team, key collaborators, and external partners to build solid, inclusive relationships and influence business decisions

  • Serve as the Benefits Team’s HIPAA Privacy Champion

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in LOA and Time Off benefit administration

  • Experienced knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to leave of absence, such as FMLA, ADA, worker’s compensation, and other types of leaves, especially multi-state paid leave compliance requirements.

  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy through ambiguous circumstances

  • Expertise in data analysis and exceptional skills in Excel and/or Google Sheets

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with the team in an asynchronous and fast-paced environment

  • Solid experience using the Workday HRIS platform

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
